This is a super book. It is relevant too; everyone's life is already touched by robotics and artificial intelligence. As examples, most household appliances are built by robots and your searches on Amazon, Google etc are mightily assisted by AI.Without ever being condescending or talking down to the reader The Sentient Robot navigates the interfaces between robotics and AI in some detail. It may be detailed, but to me the joy of the book is this never makes it boring. The carefully planned approach also means that it is full of head-slapping moments. I knew that there is a difference between human and machine memory, but had never stopped to wonder what it is, why and what the consequences of the differences might be. It takes Rupert Robson about a page to explain and to answer enough of the questions the explanation provokes to make you read on.I never thought a serious book about intelligence and robotics could be a page turner, but I was told to turn the light out more than once. And not by a robot...Highly recommended

Why this book is not more widely distributed I do not know. It is excellent. I can't put it down. It has a great mix of computer science, biology, philosophy and more. The author is able to cite specific academics across a range of disciplines, the book is wonderfully well researched and broad.Great read and one I will definitely revisit.
