Sing-Along Japanese Nursery Rhymes Book with English Translations

My 4yo nephew is starting to learn to read and write in Japanese so I got him this for a Christmas gift. My brother says it is currently his favorite book. It includes English and Japanese for the song lyrics. Like other reviewers have said, the songs are certainly nostalgic for adults today who grew up with Japanese moms. I remember my mom explaining what the song meant, this uses it to teach the language. Brilliant. Very sweet songs and illustrations, sturdy board book and a good size for kids.

There are several songs with hiragana, rōmaji, and an English translation. The music that plays is very good, not what I was expecting from previous experience with these sorts of books (though it gets a bit buzzy on the highest notes of one song).If I had to nitpick, I'd complain that the lyrics of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star are not correctly translated (they used the original English lyrics rather than translating the Japanese lyrics). To be fair, the song was originally English and was translated into Japanese, so it makes sense to use the original English lyrics. But if you want to know what the Japanese lyrics *actually* mean, the English on the page won't give you an accurate idea.All of that said, if they publish another, I will absolutely buy it. This one has two of my kids' favorites (ぞうさん and ちょうちょ). For your next book, my kids would be over the moon if any of the following were included:こいのぼり犬のおまわりさんどんぐりゴロゴロチューリップThanks!!~~~Edit to Add: I can't seem to find anything else by this author or company, and can't even find this book on a Google search. Super bummed. Would like to buy more from this author/business.

The media could not be loaded.  My Mother used to sing these songs to my children. Now I can carry on the tradition.

Beware there is a short return window on this product because it breaks 2-3 months later. Item has quit working. I was reading it every night to my infant but suddenly stopped working and now cannot return. Do not recommend

Great book, my wife loves the songs. Reminds her of when she was young in Japan. Book seems tough so it should last our boy and maybe a sibling. Overall great buy!

This book is just what kids starting to learn Japanese need. The illustrations are very colorful, bright, and cute! The songs are clear and easy to follow alongside the lyrics. I don't hear any pronunciation errors. It has the English translation written below the Japanese characters which is nice as well! Overall, I found the book to be very well done and made with great quality. The pages are pretty sturdy and probably water resistant so easy to wipe clean.I would definitely recommend it!

My husband is Japanese and automatically knew all of the songs. It’s a really great book to expose my biracial baby to his Japanese half.
