Loved it..refreshing to read and creative
I am somewhat disgusted by the harsh words and quite frankly, selfish reviews that have been left in response to the book. I find it somewhat pathetic that people can be so judgmental and down right rude. Reviews are meant to be constructive, not destructive. Many people on this site need to realize that. How would you feel if you took years and put your heart into something and then everyone responded in a disgusting manner. I loved your book Davey, despite being a HUGE AFI fan and having oodles of respect for you already, I read your book and it was so you. I loved that the main character was flashy and heart felt, I imagine you were at some point similar even though I have done my research and I know the book isn't a direction reflection of your life. It was a fun read, stepping outside of the norm and writing a book that isn't your everyday boring story line. From someone that reads a new book almost every other day, I thank you for taking a step outside of your element and writing a book with so much..flavor. I look forward to your second book that is in the works!

Some people just don't see beyond the superficial
The negative reviews of this book reflect more upon the reviewers sad inability to fully grasp the message and meaning of this book, NOT any shortfalls of the novel itself. This book is amazing and deeply layered. For those expecting a typical "AFI-fan" style book (i.e. spooky cats and black bats or little tales about girls running around weeping into their H.I.M. lunchboxes), look elsewhere. For anyone who knows anything about Mr. Havok they will know that he has a unique style of speaking and his prose reflect his individual lexicon, making it all the more interesting to read.It should be noted that this is NOT an autobiography nor should the main protagonist be interpreted as being Mr. Havok's vision of himself. For people who are able to see beyond face value, this is a must read. For people who are too black and white to look beyond the superficial, try reading the Twilight series.

Ouch
It pains me to give this one star. I thought about giving it two, but that would be an all out lie.I have loved Davey since I started listening to AFI when I was fifteen years old. That's over half of my life.Blaqk Audio is my favorite band.So how could I possibly fathom giving this one star?Easy... I read it.I read it start to finish. Sure, it took a while, and honestly, there were times I just wanted to give up on it. But I felt like I had to push myself to complete this, because I wanted to give Davey every chance to somehow turn this around.Alas, it didn't get any better. This book was terrible. All of the characters were terrible (not exempt from this in the least is the main character). The plot was terrible. There is really nothing redeemable about this at all, except the picture in the ABOUT THE AUTHOR section.Other things that peeved me on a personal level:+ The editing. Spelling, punctuation, grammar. You can't tell me this man can't afford someone to proof this. Hell, throw any literate fan an autographed copy, and they'll do it. I know I would. (Davey, if you ever read this review, and a second book is in the works, I stand by this offer.)+ A page didn't go by that did not name drop a brand. Hell, I think if you took out name brands, this book would be a good 25% shorter. I'm not sure if this is just to get the point across of how shallow the central character is, or if it's indicative of the author's priorities, but either way, it's overkill.+ The vegan facts weren't even kept straight. Even a vegetarian can tell you Altoids and gummy bears are on the do not eat list.

Interesting perhaps…
Pop Kids is like living in the brain of a teenage boy who really wants to be a rich kid with unlimited funds and as popular as a human can be. Mike picks up litter as his friends throw it on the ground and plans giant “parties” so he can perform “ scenes” with every girl there and there is even a couple of boys who get into the “ scene” as well. It definitely makes you wonder how much of this book is actually autobiographical and how much is made up. One thing is for sure, everyone in this book needs a good ol’ std check up.

Davey Havok scores top notch
A little boring in the beginning ,but as you get to know the players in this book .it comes together,Davey does bring a little of himself into it ,as score is also a vegan, streightedge,Putting in what he believes in ,Bravo ,to Davey havok.I believe the next one will be even better,As Davey himself has inproved with time ,

A Great Book for the Digital Generation
As a fan of his music, I wanted to support Davey by reading this. I did not know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. It is an amazing depiction of the dangers of the time. People text the person sitting across from them nowadays. Everything is instantly accessible and people like Paris Hilton are famous for being famous. Pop Kids taps into those themes beautifully. At its heart, it is about a group of kids trying to find themselves and a place to belong. Score wants to escape his small town and achieve something great. He wants to be remembered, which is something I think everyone can relate to.

Could not put this book down!
Well I liked it! Totally not what I was expecting, but considering this is Davey’s first book as an author, just proves how multi talented this amazing man is! Starting “Love Fast Los Angeles” tonight! 😍💕

Excelente
