What a fun book!
I own a few of books with Tres Guitar Monutos, but this one despite being written for guitar, translates so easy to the Tres that makes it a great Tres book too.The included CD is awesome. Some of my previous music book-cd didn't have great interpretations and some sounded right out awful. This one is spot on.Just hearing it will make your legs shake wanting to dance to it.The reason is that is played with "sabor y bomba" like the Cuban music should be played!Although the title says "Montunos for Guitar" you'll benefit if you want to do also bass, timbales, bongos in Afro cuban style. The only thing I disliked was that if you liked a Montuno somewhere in the middle of the CD, it was difficult to find the tune back in the book as the tracks aren't indexed as per Montuno CD order.Other than that, I'm having a ball with it. I hope you all enjoy it too.

Same as "Salsa & Afro Cuban Montunos for Piano" w/ Guitar Tab
If you are just getting into Afro Cuban guitar playing this is a good supplement to a basic book. I would agree with another reviewer that it gets a bit repetitious after a point. I consider that a good thing. It is very complete and the feedback illustrates that you're "getting it" and learning by being able to predict the forms. This book is really the book "Salsa & Afro Cuban Montunos for Piano" but simplified a bit and laid out in tab. To make room for the tab there are fewer Montunos in this book than the Piano book. There is also a smaller explanation section. I would also ask if there are some interesting differences that could have been explored with the guitar but are not even touched since this is just a piano to guitar translation. If you can read sheet music then you would be better off with the piano book in my opinion. If you already have the piano book ("Salsa & Afro Cuban Montunos for Piano") then don't buy this volume since you'll be just duplicating what you already have. It should be more clearly stated about this.

Salsa--but not for the table
Christmas is over and yet again Amazon came to my rescue. My son wanted the music book "Salsa and Afro CubanMontunos for Guitar". I did not even try any of the local music stores (sorry about that) I went straight toAmazon and placed my order. The new book was in my hands within 3 days. He now wants some different music books for his birthday. Guess where I am going to place my order? Thank you Amazon, you have never let me down. djb

Great
This is a great guide for getting to know the upper register of the guitar for Salsa, Montunos, etc. Of course you need to supplement it with listening to Salsa, Timba, Son 24/7, and maybe study some percussion and dance too to get it, if you weren't raised with clave. I highly recommend this.

Great book to learn sals patterns on guitar.
I absolutely love this book. I've already incorporated some of the styles into songs that I've been composing on guitar. I love salsa music and learning to play salsa is so fun!

too much information
A beautifully produced book, but really all you need is the rhythym and you can make up our own montunos. Still good for getting you started i you can't be bothered to go on Youtube!
