After 8 months of use, I can say that I'm very happy with this baby gate and ordered a second one. It's easy to install (read caveat below regarding drywall installation), is simple but modern, and best of all, it's compact and isn't very noticeable or in the way when not in use.An important note...in my experience, it does work well on drywall IF you use the screw method and use reliable drywall anchors. I think the listing changed to make it more clear that they don't recommend it on drywall soon after I had received the item. I had initially attached the gate using the adhesives...the main side to painted drywall and the hook side to a wooden panel. A few days later, my 1.5yo son pushed the mesh gate forward a bit which caused the paint on the drywall side to peel away from the wall and detach itself. That's when I noticed the listing changed when I revised the product page. However, I really needed this area blocked off so I patched up the wall and decided to go with the screw method but wanted to use drywall anchors that I knew were reliable (I didn't know if I could trust the included anchors wouldn't rip out of my wall), so I installed my own self-drilling drywall anchors and haven't had any issues since (the hooks are still attached to the wooden panel using the adhesives). We use this gate daily and it shows no signs of wanting to rip out of the drywall and has successfully kept my toddler out of the kitchen area while we're cooking, washing dishes, and removing the trash.

So we bought 2 of these gates to be able to block off our hallway from our 2 year old wandering through my in laws part of the house (which they leave hazards laying everywhere). We needed to start potty training and the only solution was to buy some baby gates. We already have 4 metal gates in other locations of the house but really didn't want to purchase another clunky metal gate. So I took to Amazon and found these and they were already a bit cheaper than metal gates and seemed to have pretty good reviews. The gates were delivered the next day 🙌 and were incredibly easy to install. We used the no drill install option and let me just say..the stick pads are crazy strong!!! 😜 I had stuck one to the wall and as soon as I stuck it I realized I needed to move it so in less than 30 seconds of it being on the wall I attempted to take it off real quickly....well...that turned out to be embarrassing since I took a whole hunk of sheetrock off with the sticky pad 😂 I was able to restick and reposition and install and have since then repaired the huge hole in the wall. Hahaha I should have gone by the saying "measure twice cut once"😅 but it just goes to show how strong the adhesive is.

3 stars (neutral) for sturdiness because it remains to be seen whether these will hold up against the outdoor elements. And by themselves, they do not prevent our small 12 pound dog from quickly, forcefully pushing under the bottom in his eagerness to get out to chase rabbits. And yes, we installed the gate as low as possible to the stair step.If this is installed at the top of stairs & you have a baby that is determined to get to the other side — determined enough to push under the gate — be cautious!On the positive side: The installation is easy. Opening & closing is easy. The “netting” does bounce back to its original shape after our little dog runs against it to get underneath & out. This gray gate does look very nice & classy, so far (6 weeks in the hot Texas sun).

While looking for a large than usual baby gate due to the entrance to our family room was over 5 feet, we could not find anything that would perfectly fit with the standard wood, or metal gates. Until we found this retractable baby gate. My wife and I did not even know these items existed. the description looked pretty good with a retractable gate that would close off the width of our room entrance, you could either use the tape or the screws to secure to the wall. we went with the tape first and haven't looked back. in the few weeks that we have had it, we have not experienced any problems of the tape failing. the gate is sturdy. the gate retracts and rolls out with no problems. the locking/unlocking button for the gate was easy to use. as of now, i am happy with the product. as stated in the title, we are using for our little dogs and they haven't had any with issues with gate.

I was looking for a baby gate for my young child and dog to install in my new house. Until I stumbled upon this baby gate I had no idea that there were retractable versions. I have limited space in this small house and this retractable baby gate fits perfectly. It’s such a space saver and the gray one fits perfectly with my paint scheme. I spent about 5 minutes installing it (I used the screws but it comes with suction cups too) and it’s super easy to use. It’s much more sturdy than I thought it would be. My 70 pound dog is very high strung and it stops her from bolting out of the front door every time I open it. I buy a lot of dumb things on Amazon but this is not one of them. It’s soooo worth the money. If you’re on the fence about the quality, the sturdiness, or anything about this gate, don’t worry. Buy it. You’ll be satisfied.
