Urges:Chronicle of a Serial Killer
I highly recommend this book to anyone. I don't like to read violent, detailed, murder books, but this one had me. I did not put it down for 5 hours. Martin creates a background and personally introduces you to the girls and their families. My mind raced and I envisioned the father as he chased the van out of the small quiet town that they all thought was safe. We all think we are safe. Martin raises the question and opens the mind to "pay attention". The research Martin has done and his respect for the families and the victims makes this book not just a book on killings, but a book of thought and evidence. Martin does not convict, he allows us an insight into the background, the child bullied and abused that became the quiet citizen no one knew, or they thought they knew. Well done and interesting all the way through this book.

A Must Read for True Crime and CSI/NCIS Aficionados
A brilliant and riveting debut by the author. This is a tragic and insightful look at the anatomy of a serial killer. It explains how a seemingly harmless person can turn into a monstous, cold blooded killer, in terms we can all understand. It also provides a powerful lesson that early childhood development and caregiving are the most important roles we can play in life. You won't be able to put it down!

Not convincing
Convicted on a signed confession which the subject the next day said was all a dream, Larry is slated to spend the rest of his days in prison. The author asserts the subject was probably the murderer of 40+ young women in and around reenactment sites, rivers, and wooded areas that he was thought to frequent. No Physical evidence, one possible witness sighting, and a weak confession put him away forever.Other reenactment participants, parents, and a twin brother did not seem to have been seriously interrogated.I would have found an intensive discussion with the brother to have been enlightening...and so it goes. So, we have forty or more young women murdered within a possible hundred mile radius of my house, the subject of this book who possibly may have been the perpetrator in these horrific acts, and the author's statement that at any one time thirty or more serial killers may be at work in the U.S.An interesting, but not convincing book...

The book does an excellent job of helping to understand what goes on in the mind of a serial killer. Every woman and every person with children needs to read this book. It is eye opening.
