Alpine CorporationEco-Twist Energy-Saving 5300GPH Pond Pump with Controller and 33-ft. Cord

Two years and working fine.
I put this in my koi pond 2 years ago to replace another brand that was beginning to make so much noise it could be heard when near the pond. I chose this Alpine pump for its low wattage. The previous 5000 gph pump pulled 600 watts and in my area that costs $43 per month. This unit draws ( I measured it) 180 watts, or $13 per month. It paid for itself in less than 10 months.I don't understand the complaints here about low flow rate. Mine measured (crudely I admit, with a 5 gallon bucket) at least 4500 gph with an 8 ft. head.

2 breakdowns after 4 years, Not built to last
Unfortunately I purchased and installed a 2nd identical pump, since my plumbing is complicated and was custom built for this pump. Again, as with the first pump, it lasted two years and shut down my expensive aquarium and aqauaponics system. I have other aquarium systems running with Eheim and Danner pumps that have been going without problems for 15+ years. Notifying the Alpine customer service is worthless. They tell you a couple of days for a response and then say it might be longer due to Covid. If your pump is a "mission critical" component of your set-up, do not buy these pumps. They are not built to last and their customer service department is not available to assist in an emergency.

stay away. this thing is a joke
weak, very weak flow. Definitely not as advertised. I have it for a new waterfall, i have double 2" risers, oversized so the pump sees hardly any water pressure drop pipe loss and it just trickles flow. It has a ~5' vertical rise and about 4' horizontal piping.5300 gph = 88.3 gpm (this is the pump spec). This thing is flowing about 15-20 gpm in my application. I'll update and post pics, but wanted to get this review up asap. total BS! there is NO WAY this thing could flow anywhere near 88gpm with 0 ft h2o on it. Just an absolute lie and disappointment. the pump looks like a toy. you get what you pay for.

It's not even close to it's rated flow rate.
This pump rated at 5300 GPH has a water flow not even equal to the 2000 GPH it was purchased to replace. Appearance is nice, construction seems good and the controller is a nice touch. If the flow rate was even half of what it was rated it would be great.

Great pump for the price
So far so good. I've only had this pump for about a month but it's plenty powerful for my 2500 gallon koi pond with pressure filter.

Excellent Product
This works great. 2 months and no issues.

Cool pump but not all they claim it is.
This is a very cool pump due to the variable speed option. I'm only giving it 3 of 5 stars as it is not even close to the GPH that they claim. See attached photo for example of flow. The nozzle is clearing the water line and the pump is at 100%.
