I don't use fabric softener. My wife does. The liquid clogs the tubes in the drawer. The positive effects of use are noticable, but irrelevant to me. Some of the perfumes are obnoxious. Worst, they make the towels go moldy in a day after use. If you live in a high humidity area you have probably had a towel go funky so fast you wonder how. Bet you are using rinse-in fabric softener. This stuff works differently. First, it works well, but doesn't leave residue in the machine or the towels. What smell carries through is muted and disappears on the line or in the dryer. So no respiratory attacks from either chemical residue or black molds. It might be better than skipping the whole thing. If you question whether fabric softener is worth it, then try this stuff. You will at least get a different perspective. Soft absorbent towels without the drawbacks.

I use these mostly for hubby’s chef uniforms. They can be really smelly! This particular scent seems to work the best.

The scent is more of refreshing scent. I use half a cap for every wash, good enough to make my clothes smell better
