Packaging broken
The bottom of the plastic container was cracked and hanging off by a small piece. Very disappointed in this. More disappointing was I couldn’t even contact customer service about this.

Delish
I love garlic but had never tried Black Garlic so I was excited to get my hands on this. I don't make it a habit of just snacking on garlic, but I do tend to double the amount that's asked for in any recipe. After reading some of the comments I wanted to try eating it as a snack, and now I can't get enough. The flavor is sweeter than regular garlic and it's not as intense. I have found that I prefer it in my recipes over regular garlic and I don't need to increase the amount that's asked for. The cloves are large and easy to peel, and I haven't had any issues with the container like other reviewers have. My only issue now is wanting to snack on it all the time.

I hadn't previously heard of black garlic, but I'm sure I've probably eaten it many times in others' cooking and just never realized it. For those who don't yet know, it's garlic that has been slowly fermented using very low heat over a period of time. (There's plenty to read online, available to find by googling.)I'm glad I tried this! It's absolutely delicious! The flavor is much milder than fresh garlic, which makes it really good for seasoning with when you want to impart some garlic flavor but not have it be overbearing.Also, while reading about this I found out there are ways to make it at home, so I might try that someday. In the meantime, there's this product, though. And the price seems fair for what you get.The container is fairly large, about 1.5 times the size of a regular cottage cheese tub. There were several full bulbs of garlic in it (I forgot to count). But it was probably at least 8. It will probably take me several months to go through all of this.The only con was that I had to transfer it to a different container I had on hand, though, because (like others here have mentioned) the container was cracked. But it doesn't seem to have affected the product. (I mention the container issue only to let the manufacturer know that it's happening, and perhaps a container made of softer plastic would be better since this plastic seems very brittle, which may have been why it broke so easily. It breaks more even if I press on it hard enough.)This is so good, I will probably reorder when it runs out. Now that I've tried it, I'm hooked!

If you love new flavors and have never tried black garlic, you need this.
This is a totally new-to-me flavor. It's a bit sweet, but also savory. The texture is gummy, sort of like the inside of a dried apricot. The flavor is very deep and rich, but not overpowering at all. It's kind of difficult to describe. There is nothing else out there (that I've experienced) that is like this at all.I'm still figuring out what all can be done with it. For starters, add some to a bit of oil, puree, then use it as a spread on crostini!Bottom line: From what I can tell, this product is a very good example of jumbo whole black garlic at a fair price. These are really JUMBO size. Easy to peel. Great to snack. Great for recipes.
I LOVE black garlic. It is one of those foods, I found a couple years ago when making a recipe. Now I keep some in the house so that when I go by them I can pop one in my mouth. When I tried one of these black garlics, I said out loud, "Oh My!" because it is so much better than I thought.What I received:I was surprised when I saw this product only had 2 stars. I had to take a peek why. Broken containers. My container arrived to me unbroken and very well intact. I had to break the plastic seal to open it. This is 8 ounces of black garlic. I have 11 big cloves in my container.These cloves are at least 2x as big as other single cloves I have tried in the past. Compared to the bulbs I have on hand, these are about 4x as big as them.These are described as Jumbo whole black garlic. When I looked in the container, it looked like small bulb of garlic. Then I opened the container and took one out. This is when I went "oh my!" These aren't small bulbs with multiple cloves. These are large cloves of black garlic! These peel with great ease. No effort is required to pop the clove out of the skins.To taste:These have a sweet, tangy, almost roasted garlic flavor. I feel they taste a little more tangy than sweet compared to my brand on hand. These are so big that they are a couple bites. These would be perfect for recipes in that I can easily slice them or dice them. No smooshy pieces. On hand in my pantry, I have whole bulbs. I find that the ones on hand can be a lot of work getting the garlic out and sometimes comes out smooshy depending where it is located in the bulb. that is not an issue with these. These are easily peeled whole big cloves.Easy 5 stars. Slightly tangier than the ones I am used to, I can easily pop these in my mouth walking by. These are EXCELLENT for cooking with. Easy to peel. Very happy with them.
