Magnificent performances of the Sinfonietta, Taras Bulba, the re-constructed Violin Concerto and incidental music for Schlock und Jau. This last piece is very enjoyable, though too little known. The Concerto is a beautiful work, very moving, and well played by Josef Suk. The orchestral playing is wonderful throughout, and the sound is excellent. Whichever of the main works you have this release would enrich you collection.

This is a very good SInfonietta and has about the best opening pages I've heard. Much prefer this to Mackerras. The violin concerto is quite haunting and well worth having.
