this unit is well made and has a quality feel.the faceplate has nice crisp easy to read text and the switch button has a very pleasing tactile push action.the abs housing is probably the weakest part of the product and feels a little cheaper than the rest of the unit but it does its job. you may want to run a tiny bead of sealant around the lip on which the faceplate rests when installing just to make a positive seal all the way around as the faceplate is held by just two bolts in the middle and there is a tiny bit of movement on the bottom edge which may make a gap through which water can ingress.not that it should be a problem as the switch unit is fully weather sealed on the back of the faceplate and should protect from harsh weather just fine. the necessary cables exit from the back of the weatherproofing and have just enough that wiring them up is straightforward and not fiddly. the weatherproofing does make the rear wiring extend out past the back of the backbox so has to be bent quite harshly up at a 45 degree angle and pressure applied when screwing on the faceplay to get it to sit properly without causing issues seating the faceplate properly. but it's not that difficult to work with.you get the wiring diagram in the box for how to connect it up and installation is just connecting the correct wires so it's easy if you know what you're doing.overall it's a decent unit and for the price it's not a bargain but i think you'll be happy with it.

I ordered this to work as an emergency exit from my security steel shed with a mag lock on it.I could have wired an inline switch in but this just works so well.It is exactly the quality I expect and have used numerous times over the years. Perhaps it's a little over kill for use inside a secure tools shed.Simple to wire and easy to use. At £29.97 it's not cheap, however it's very well made and the action is like clockwork.

This outdoor button comes in a plain cardboard box and inside you’ll find the switch plate, back box, 2x Allen key screws, Allen key, and a wiring leaflet. The switch pate itself feels really good quality with it’s brushed stainless steel faceplate. It has a smooth green button in the middle which needs a little bit of pressure to press. It’s not hard to press, but it does need a little bit of push to get it to click so it’s not easy to accidentally press it. On the back of the button is four wires which need to be wired in depending on your installation. The included wiring diagram helps with which wires to use. The back box is made from plastic but has been sprayed in silver to closely match the metal faceplate. Installation was straight forward in my situation as I already have an electric door lock fitted which is locked when there is power going to it. I wired this in from my power cables and when I press the button, it stops the electrical current going to door lock, and the lock releases. This allows me to open the gate. When the gate closes, the electrical current resumes and locks the door behind me. This has made it a lot easier for my wife to get through the back gate on her mobility scooter as she doesn’t have to mess with any keys, locks or catches. She simply presses the button from the inside, and the gate unlocks for her. I like how the front faceplate sits inside the back box at the top which gives some protection from water ingress to the cabling behind.
