Got this for my Children long ago now for my grandchildren. Wonderful story and illustrations. However very flimsy. Don't think it will last thru til the next grand kid.

A Nice Children's Book About Spring
A nice, simple story about a young boy who doesn't believe in spring because he lives in the projects where there are no trees, flowers, insects, etc until one day a walk beyond his neighborhood to an abandoned lot features a spring flower just starting to grow. It introduces young children to what it's like to live in the city. Simple story, beautiful illustrations. It's a nice addition to my collection of children's books about spring.

I didn't realize this book was the from the 70s when I ordered it. It feels pretty dated, and one line mentions someone threatening to beat up one of the kids. I decided not to gift this to my 3 year old niece, it just wasn't the right vibe for today and for such a young child. May be better for older kids.

Great Book.
I love this book. The pictures are beautiful. I think its important that this story features an interracial friendship. We should encourage more of those.

I read this regularly to my 2.5 year old daughter. One of our favorite books. Lovely illustrations of a city life and how one can find beauty anywhere. The writing is poetic and exciting. Highly recommend this book!
