Didn't last a season
Coating didn't last a season. I had added additional protection and it's already black and falling apart. Glue didn't hold. I'll rebuild them and seal them properly. But so far no critters are loving them as a place to state. This is in the PNW.

Great Bee Box to Support Native Bees
This is my third Mason Bee Box. I have a 2-acre orchard farm in the mountains of Virginia, and the mason bees have been troopers in pollinating my orchard and garden. Supporting local bees is also such a great idea because honeybees are not native to the US, and they can displace other important pollinators. This house is well constructed with a polyurethane coating on the wood. I’ve mounted my box under the eave of my garage for added protection, where it faces the orchard and gets some morning sun. It’s too late in the season to attract bees to nest but having two other boxes that successfully attracted mason bees, I have no doubt that this will work as well as the others. I mounted it now in autumn instead of the spring, so that the polyurethane and glue smell can dissipate before nesting season, as I don’t want noxious fumes to deter the bees from taking up residence in the box.At only sixteen dollars, this is an amazing price, as to construct a box myself similar to this one would likely cost me around the same price, if not more. One nice attribute is that the bamboo tubes are of different diameters, which is important as the mason bees are picky about the size of the tube they select and having an array of sizes seems to get them to colonize a box more quickly. It’s also great that the tubes are bamboo and not cardboard, which will help them last and keep unwanted moisture out. This is definitely a wonderful native bee house which is as a great price and highly recommended.

This is a beneficial addition to gardens that’s easy to feel good about.
Hi. I am very pleased with every aspect of this bee house and I look forward to hanging it in my garden this coming spring. For a long time now I have lived in a New England “farming and fishing” coastal community in a house with a treed yard and flower gardens and decorative plantings throughout. My wife and I have long been “on board“ with incorporating plants that are beneficial for butterflies so adding this habitat for bees (and ladybugs) is both a great fit and an excellent idea. The bee house offers two mounting options (hanging or backside bracket). It measures approximately 8”x 8” (Width, “eave to eave”, x Height) and the wood is sealed throughout with wax. The house is nicely put together and looks like it should last. The twine used to hang the house is easily replaceable and a package containing (8) additional bamboo tubes is included. So, all the bases are covered …The takeaway: This well made bee hive is a beneficial support for the pollinators we all need and depend on. It is a genuine bargain for its asking price and can, will, make a welcome gift.
