Actually pretty impressive toy
My wife and I purchased this for our granddaughter. After reading the reviews we had mixed feelings about getting it due to some reported issues with assembly, but I wanted a doll bunk bed made of wood (or "wood product") more than plastic. I also have to temper my review with the disclosure that I have pretty extensive experience building and repairing functional furniture, Doll houses, wood model aircraft and model ships, so I have the tools and materials and experience that made the assembly less time consuming and less problematic, however, that did lead to an error that I hope you will avoid.. So here goes:When it arrived the box had been evidently banged around a bit and there was a corner that was dented as well as one of the trundle drawer rails that was cracked. Thankfully the crack in the drawer rail was fairly clean and so some five-minute epoxy applied with a painting palette knife in the cracks along with some spring clamps rectified that in short order.. Clean up the rails with denatured alcohol before it all cures so the drawer will slide freely. The rails were solid wood (probably pine) but the rest of the bed is wood composite/dense particle board, The dented/smashed corner was at the bottom of one of the end boards and was strengthened with some CA glue. There are three types of screws for assembly.. One of the screws (which has a chrome head) is for the pull knob on the drawer..Don't make the mistake I made before I looked at the rest of the screws and try to use that in place of a screw intended for assembly of the bed itself..The rest of the screws have heads painted white.. The longer ones are for adding the side rails (top and bottom) to the end pieces.. The shorter screws are for everything else.Particularly for the shorter assembly screws you want them snug and tight, but not too tight.. If you strip one out, again, I would use 5 min epoxy pushed in the screw hole with a kabob skewer or toothpick and then reassemble. For the chair, the front brace has wood pins. These went in easily. I probably should have coated them with wood glue before putting them in, but it is a doll chair and the extra strength really shouldn't be that big of an issue. The overall fit is pretty good, however, things work best (particularly for the chair) if you don't completely snug all of the screws down until after you have everything assembled. Put it all together leaving about a turn left on the screws and make sure it is on its feet on a flat surface before you put the final torque on the screws. That way it won't wobble..There are a couple of places where having an extra pair of hands will be helpful.. Putting the shelves on the one end unit is one of them. Put them both on one side of the end unit (step 3) and then again, don't completely tighten them until you put the back on the shelf (step 4).This method of not doing the final tightening is also recommended when putting the trundle drawer together as well as the actual bed rails and bottoms. The drawer, and both beds have a pressboard bottom that fits in a groove cut along the bottom of the side and end pieces. The side and end piece grooves may not line up if you tighten them down without the pressboard in place. This is another place where an extra pair of hands can be a great help.. Also a thin butter knife or painter's palette knife can help get the pressboard seated in the groove properly.I was actually pretty impressed with the fit. Pre-drilled holes were nearly perfectly lined up.The side rails have a stiff plastic insert that the longer screws go into that help strengthen those joints, and you can torque them down a bit more than the rest of the screws, but again, don't over tighten. The channels cut in the ends and sides of the beds and drawer were accurate, provided you use the method I mentioned earlier of full assembly of a component before final tightening.Total assembly took me about 40 minutes, Use a quality Phillips head screwdriver. One with a longer shaft is helpful when putting the side rails on the shelf end, as you have about a 6" deep reach that is fairly close to the side and can make it harder to turn the screwdriver.I DO NOT recommend a power screw driver as that would make it very easy to strip out the assembly screws..Overall it is an attractive, sturdy set. Fit (as I said earlier) and finish are quite good, and the attractive floral pattern on one side of the end shelf is well done, with crisp lines. It also has blankets and pillows for the dolls.I'm looking forward to our granddaughter playing with this set.Hope this is a helpful review.

Sturdy and attractive
I purchased this bunk bed set for my granddaughter's birthday. In the instructions there is mention of a video you can watch to help with assembling. It was very helpful. Assembly wasn't difficult, but took me over an hour. There are no extra parts, so be careful you don't lose any of the screws, dowels, etc. All pieces arrived well packaged and in good condition. I was careful not to over tighten screws as so many mentioned wood splitting issues. Holes lined up well, although at times I felt I had to push the screws a bit so they went in straight. I decided to add some decorative adhesive (Contact) paper to spruce the beds/desk/chair up a little bit, and I was happy with how it turned out. It is a sturdy, excellent quality product, and I would purchase it again.

Poor quality for the money spent
Poor quality and not able to put together because pieces were backwards. We decided to put this together in front of my granddaughter who was heartbroken with the result of it breaking upon trying to put together. What a complete waste of a decent amount of money.

Adorable
This bed is very nice. Made well, all pieces were there and went together beautifully. I am so impressed with these beds (bought 2). Can't beat the price...Check out American Girl beds...Price is crazy. These are solid wood, heavy, nicely detailed and painted perfectly. Can't go wrong with this bed. The desk is a really cute added detail. My granddaughters will love these!

Beware! Stained bedding with bad smell
I dislike that I received this item and the bedding mattress pads was stained and had a bad smell. This was a Christmas gift so I could not exchange due to not being able to have time to receive another one.

Well worth the price. Solid. A beauty.
An example of “you get what you pay for “This set is the most expensive of the beds I shopped, but well worth it. It was packed carefully, all pieces identified by key and assembly illustrations easy to understand. It’s really solid and my granddaughter loves it. This will stand up to a lot of use.
