Four Paws 456103 Ut Instant Mat & Tangle Remover by Four Paws

I have an elderly cat who doesn't groom as well as he used too. He developed matted clumps in his fur. Trying to brush them out is difficult. My regular wire bristle brush pulled each mat which was painful to my cat. This tool is amazing. I use it slowly and try not to pull and eventually the mat comes out. I'm still learning how to use it, but it's the first tool I've tried that actually removes the mat. I imagine it would work even better on a dog, they tend to stay still better than a cat! My cat doesn't allow me to spend a lot of time on each mat, so it does take a few times to remove the entire mat. I also now brush him a few times a day with his regular brush and only use this tool if I notice a mat starting to develop. His fur looks so much better and he's a lot happier.

We have two Maine Coon cats and a Bernese Mtn dog, shedding and grooming are high on the list of daily chores. I have tried so many different types of grooming combs and brushes and while they have been okay, this is just absolutely the best for our use. So glad we got it.

I had purchased a more expensive matted hair remover and pet friendly electric clippers in anticipation of the tools not being able to remove the matted hair on my cat's back (thick, almost down to skin).Decided to try this one first. Lightly brushed her and WOW, no yelping, no discomfort for my cat (who doesn't even like being brushed normally) even though I tugged a couple of times, and the thick matted hair came right out. I really just had to lightly drag the tool over her and it all came out despite being tangled and her being sensitive to my touching the matted hair with my fingers.Still can't make sense of it given how simple the tool looks. Not sure how it does the trick but it does. Buy it!

My cat matted I like crazy this year Cold winter. And super hot summer. Cat getting older not as proficient with coat care. If I’d had this tool early on and combed out under coat and easy tangles it would have been a breeze!!

I have one and liked using it for gradually detangling mats that I ordered another one. The 2nd one that came was not the item pictured on the website.

I really wanted this to work. One of our cats was ill and couldn’t groom himself well enough. This brush didn’t detangle his matted knots at all. Had to take him to a groomer to have his mats shaved out.

My cat has two coats - the 'undercoat' is for the Alps... she is 12, and the tiny (next to the skin) tangles hurt her, and are next to impossible to remove except by shaving her, which I've had to have done every summer. I have a drawer full of expensive ones that don't work, hurt her, and are a pile of wasted money. Every one of them claimed to do what this little brush does - quickly, easily, and most importantly, doesn't cause her stress or pain. I use it once a day (she doesn't run when she sees it), and in five minutes I have a visible cup's worth of tangles in a pile beside her. For all who have searched for a tangle-remover, look no further, this is IT! I recommend this highly, top of the pile... there is no better!
