Bought this to replace the existing one on a lamp. Easy to use an works great. Saved me from throwing the lamp away and replacing it.

I recently purchased some used lamps from the local thrift store that needed a bit of TLC to make them perfect. Both lamps needed to have the cords replaced and one of them had a broken shade harp. I came home with them and came immediate here to look for replacement parts, found these and ordered them. They arrived a couple days later, and then the lamps sat in the garage for a couple days because life got in the way. I did notice one day, at the local depot, that their lamp repair kit was $1.50 more for each kit than what I paid for them here. So I guess I got a good deal, especially since I it was shipped with free prime delivery. Anyhow, back to the kit.Time finally came to repair the thrift store lamps, and upon opening the packing, I was immediately taken back by a strong smell of something. After some probing, I notice the smell was coming from the replacement cords. They had some weird smell, not exactly industrial plastic, or metal, or even oily scent, but they definitely stank. Not sure if days sitting in a hot garage had something to do with that, but seeing that they were the only cables I had for the job, I ended up using them for the repair. I would like to say that the smell pretty much dissipated an hour or two later, and it no longer present after a day or two.Overall, I happy with this purchase, despite the stinky smell. I was able to bring back to life a couple nice old lamps, while saving a couple buck in the process.

Directions aren’t clear as the wire wasn’t marked clearly but we figured it out and it does work

I had lamps I had just bought new lamp shades for and didn't want to replace two lamps when I realized that the cord was frayed on one lamp at the plug end because the couch had been pressing against it for two years. So I bought this kit and endeavored to fix it. Watched several videos but realized that this lamp had several little parts and it took me quite a few trial and errors to figure it all out. I wound up just combining different parts new and old until I found something that worked. However this was not the fault of the product which is very straight forward, but operator error and the uniqueness of my lamp. After all that I realized that I didn't have to do all that after all. There was actually a way to switch out the plug end of the cord without replacing all the innards 😱 So lesson learned for next time and maybe advice for someone else to check the bottom end of the lamp cord before you take apart the innards. Despite all this, I am very happy with this product and have a great sense of satisfaction every time I click on my lamp.
