After reading the customer reviews I decided to err on the side of caution so I also ordered the asbestos wrap for starters to wrap around the exhaust under the silicone then used the Metal zips as instructed to hold everything in place and it works PERFECTLY. I can ride for hours and the silicone is slightly warm to the touch and after 3 months of use absolutely no melting however there was a slight odor In the beginning. Personally I think the manufacturer should include the asbestos wrap to stop the possibility of melting.

This product is very easy to install and works perfectly to protect against burning your calf if you ever ride with shorts on.Here in Florida, it’s gets super hot in the summer and it’s great to be able to ride around town in shorts with out fear of burning my right calf. Super easy to install and it remains “touchable” no matter how hot the pipes get!

The pipes I have on my motorcycle rub the calf really hard, heat wrapped the exhaust, heat shield that came with exhaust and it was still super hot, this really made the difference. we can ride as long as we want. Does warm up a bit while in stop and go

It works. After the bike heats up, i can actually touch it.But it could stand to be a couple of inches longer for a little more coverage on the pipe. Especially at this price.

I followed all of the instructions as given. 3 minutes into starting my Harley street bob, the rubber started smoking and started to melt onto my heat shield over my exhaust. The product was a good idea but poor in design. That’s just my opinion.

This is a must have product for ANY BIKER that OWNS A RAINSUIT or non-leather/heavy canvas rain/cold weather chaps or pants. I have melted numerous sets of rain pants, snowsuits and layers of skin (when I stupidly road “short distances”), on the exhaust pipes on motorcycles.This guard is phenomenally easy to install and protects your leg (and whatever is covering it), on the “hot side” of your exhaust system (typically the right).I’ve ridden 5-7 hours several times already and it has perfectly protected my leg and rain pants throughout the ride.NOTE: the guard is attached via steel “zip ties” so make CERTAIN you have it where you want it before inserting the tip into the locking mechanism ( in other words, don’t play with it on your arm to see how it will hold on your bike because you will have to cut the tie with wire cutters).

Works as advertised. Simple install.

It does provide some protection from exhaust heat.
