Great characters and story
My 11 year old loved the first book and enjoyed this sequel but it didn’t captivate her as much as the first (common issue). However, she is still happy to continue on the adventure!

A good one!
This book was amazing. My daughter (10) and I enjoyed reading a chapter each night. Highly recommend for 9-12 year olds give or take.

Great book for all ages 7 and up
I loved the book. It kept you wanting to know what was going to happen next. I got the book for me to read even though I’m 67 years old because I love mystery books. I highly recommend reading it.

8yr old is enjoying it
I had read the first book ‘Secret lake’ to My now 8yr daughter more than a year ago. And she had enjoyed it from 4th chapter onwards. I did not know there was a sequel to it which released earlier this year. Luckily just came across this a couple months ago and bought it for my daughter. She is beyond excited and just started reading it..and is half way through. She says she loves it equally.

Delighted to see this time travel adventure continue!
Within the first pages of Return to The Secret Lake readers will be happily whisked back to the shared gardens of Notting Hill and the friends they met in The Secret Lake. With Ms. Inglis’s descriptive style readers are put right by the characters’ side as they plot to help young Emma. Return to The Secret Lake has page-turning power…filled with suspense and heart-racing moments as the friends must hide their shared knowledge of what happens on the other side of the lake. By opening the story in early 1900s London, we are given a gentle dose of historical perspective which this reader found delightful. From clothing styles, to lifestyles, to language usage…poor Tom! I mustn’t give away the ending and how plotlines are wrapped up, but the twist and turns provide plenty of aha moments!

A well written good storey
As a granddad I read this story before giving the book to my granddaughter. I have no hesitation in recommending it for any boy or girl older than about 11 years old. There is no objectionable content in my opinion. It is a thought provoking storey

Kids' relationships make this a five-star book
My daughter and I read this book in a couple of sittings. It's a page-turner. The time travel is well done and a lot of fun. The mysteries are intriguing, and the author's solutions are clever; she handles sensitive subjects with skill. For me, what made the book were the characters. I especially enjoyed the relationships between the kids. They're polite and friendly without being sappy, and there's no bad language or gratuitous bickering between siblings. My daughter said she enjoyed the interaction between the modern-day children and those living in Edwardian times. This book is considerably longer than the first book, The Secret Lake, and might be better for kids closer to 11 or 12 rather than 8 or 9, but that depends on the reader.
