Beware - ABRIDGED Version!
It is not completely clear from the listing that this is a 60-page SEVERELY ABRIDGED version. Granted, if you look hard at the listing, the note is there, but I wish Amazon had been much clearer about this. I bought it for my daughter so she could annotate it for an advanced literature class... and, well, it ain't Mark Twain. (It's not a terrible abridgement, but why would you want an abridged version of a classic American novel?)

Huck Finn abridged... 60 pages
I am a middle school teacher and a real Huck fan. That said, the ordered books just arrived and I have not read it; so, I'll edit later. However, at first glance, it is VERY abridged (60 ); but, it is advertised as a children's version so that is not surprising. A lot of stuff happens in Huck Finn, and the editor will have had some tough choices. As Twain might have said, if everyone hates it equally, the editor must have done a good job. Inappropriate language for my young students is edited out. However, it is written with the dialects (ain't, 'doan) that will surely confuse some of my English learners, but it is a small price to pay for Twain's touch. One problem: The book is advertised (and the claim is also on the book cover) as "Easy to Read Type". I don't see it. The type appears normal size and font. This is a disappointment to me. Also, the lines are too close together- about like any other book. I am disappointed in this fact. Also, the pages are pretty thin for repeated student use- even on their best behavior. But, they cost $1.80? That is a pretty low price, and I buy quite a few out of my own pocket. So, order one or a couple and check it out. Order more if it will work for you.

Child's Abridged Version - FYI
So I may have missed the details here, but this is the childs abridged version. It definitely covers all the important aspects of the story, but in like 60 pages. VS the 300+ of the original. No offensive swearing and based on reviews from my book club (they got a good chuckle at my little book) it was a good reduction of the actual events in the longer version. If you're in a pinch this would be great as a 'coles notes' for someone doing a study or book report.

An old time adventure that was a real pleasure to read. Kids loved it as a bed time story.
I have always wanted to read a Mark Twain classic and I am so pleased that I finally took the plunge. There is no doubt that the prespective on society is distinctly different from the optics of today and the language is a real deviation from our contemporary language of today but at the hearth of it, is simply a great adventure story with some really endearing characters. If you haven't read it, do it. If you are one of the many that has already read it, it might be time for a revisit. In my case, I enjoyed reading it and reading it to my kids as an ongoing bed time story. They really got in to it, as did I.I now understand it's literairy status as an American Classic.

Not as it appears.
This 1/6/14 Create Space ed claims on the front cover it is annotated. It is not. Niether are there illustrations or chapter headings. The text is decent size.So my search for a good version continues. Strangely the penquin classics also lacks the original illustrations.Avoid this and check what you're getting.
