This is a simple lock with no spring - it just pulls apart and pushed together. There is no “click” , other than turning the key. Otherwise the lock is rugged and seems well made.I suspect that this will help it drain rainwater and protect it from corrosion. In the past, it has been the spring mechanism which has rusted and caused other locks to fail.
