Using product for very small landscape project, not aquarium.

Q: Is this really wet when you get it? Does it smell?

my 2 separate orders were not wet and did not smell.

Q: Is the sand chemically inert? Will this affect the pH of the aquarium water?

It is silica sand (mostly) so it will not affect water parameters like GH/KH/pH. It does contain some small broken seashells, but no limestone. I tested soaking in RO water for two days and the TDS and pH did not change.
