Keeping the Taino Language Alive: Advanced Studies in Taino Syntax

I’m not an expert on linguistics or detail history of the Taino language development. But I’m aware of Dr. Porrata background and have some of his other books like Remnant Words of the Boricua Indian. I discovered that there is always critics within academics. The authors of the critics seems to be showing up, addressing some issues that could better be discussed in a symposium. I’m please with the book. As the book states, It is advanced studies in Taino Syntax. Do not expect it to be basic. Practice, the author do follow the pedagogical tools he used as a professor.

I look at this book, I got so upset because it is Spanishizing with Christian Religion the Taíno Language. It is a corruption of the language and an insult to use the bible to manipulate and pass it as a teaching guide. This book sneaks in bible verses to continue the destruction of the natural beliefs of the indigenous people. This book and others are using the bible in its manipulation to continue to conform indigenous people to Christianity today. In this book, the writer managed to Spanishize words. He removed (h) and added (j) and removed (k) and added (c). Also, I notice he removed (y) and made words in (i). It is complete corruption. Example (Speak=Hiya) & (To speak=Ahiya) He turned it to (Ajiya). (To-Give=Ashika) turned it to (Sica) by stripping out and removing letters (a),(h), and (k) these letters help make proper pronunciations. Even (si) if you put them together should still sound like (shi) making the word go back to its original sound (Shika). In many areas, he ended up putting words back to their original form for convenience. This book is Spanishizing Taíno Language and not helping to Keep the Taíno language Alive if it is transforming words for convenience to make a book for the pronunciation of Spanish speakers. English speakers will be mispronunciating many words which in the Taíno language would be much easier for them since the missing letters have English sounds in pronunciation. I personally am disappointed because people are buying this book not realizing it is Christian Spanishizing the Taíno Language. This is how a language gets lost by adding more garbage (The words should be kept as is and taught from the beginning of a lesson. This way a student will always remember their original form.) One more important piece of information about this book is, pluralization of humans and items. It is wrong to use (-no) for animals and other items. Pluralization of (-no) is for humans only and not for anything else. For animals and other items, pluralization, you should use (-be) like (Wanáhobe=Turkeys). Notice the missing letters in Taíno (Wanáho=Turkey). Human Pluralization (Mothers = Bibino/ Gentlemen= Baxarino = Ba-h-arino). I hope you buy this book with caution. But if you do buy it the book helps with putting sentences together, just make sure you know the Taíno's proper words.
