DIY Chicken Feeder ports
Love these ports. Very easy to install. Our chickens ate out of them from day1! I recommend these

Should have done it sooner
The hole was the perfect size for the feeder cups. Easily cut into a 5 gallon bucket. I think I’m going to do the same for grit just to keep the waste and mess down. My chicks easily transitioned to the feeder cups.

Best investment ever
Until I set this up, I was losing tremendous amounts of feed to the pigeons, several hundred of them. I have this set up at a height snd manner where it is very easy for my hens to reach it but it’s too tall for the pigeons. It has cut my feed bill in half.It took the hens a little while to get used to it, and realize that that was where their food was, but once they caught on it has just been so easy. I fill the bucket and check on it two or three days later to see if it needs any extra so instead of having to put out feed twice a day every day I’m having to put out feed once or twice a week.Thank you whoever invented this because it’s really not only a timesaver but a cost saver.

Everything needed except bucket.
Drill bit cut thru plastic bucket like butter. Ordered lids but didn't need, chickens use all 4 openings. Keeps rain and rodents out of food. Satisfied!

These are awesome!
I have a lot of chickens, ducks, turkeys and some geese and many separate pens for different species and breeds of bird. I also hatch and raise my own babies so needless to say I can have several hundred birds at any time. I take care of all the animals when my husband is at work all day. I have baby pools with chicken wire covers for water in the pens that I drain and clean weekly but feeding them twice daily is a real pain, bending down for each scoop of food, carrying heavy bags to the feeder bucket, trying to get to their individual feeders in the pens without getting mobbed...was becoming more difficult for me. I looked at the local feed store for a solution to give them larger amounts of food at a time but they were not weather resistant, were very expensive and didn't hold that much more food than the basic feeders I already have. These seemed like a great solution but I was hesitant, so I ordered 1 pack of these and bought 2 buckets from the hardware store with lids to try and see if these could help make my daily chores easier. I am so happy with these, they are unbelievable. To test them I put 1 bucket with 2 ports in my Brahma pen with 5 adults and 5 half grown Brahmas and 1 bucket with 2 ports in my adult turkey pen with 1 gobbler and 6 hens. The juvenile Brahmas immediately went over and started pecking food out so the adults soon followed. The turkeys also had no problem figuring out how to get food out. I had my husband cut 2 logs about a foot tall and set the buckets on them, which works perfectly. There is almost no waste from the Brahmas and whatever does fall on the ground the other chickens just come over and eat. The turkeys actually make a mess and there is quite a bit more food on the ground when they eat but it also gets eaten by the other turkeys when it falls so no problem. The full bucket lasted for 5 days in the turkey pen and is only about half gone in the Brahma pen after 5 days so this will cut down on the time it takes me to feed all of them considerably and I will not have to feed them nearly as often but they still have constant food to eat at their own pace. Needless to say I am purchasing a lot more to make feeders for the other pens. I will update once I get some in the pens with ducks and geese to let you know how it works for them. Also, it has been raining here violently the last 2 days and the turkey bucket was low on feed and got knocked over by the wind and the food inside was still completely dry, I was amazed. I am really glad I tried these because now I only have to fill them up every five days or so and this absolutely makes my life easier.
