Feel good funny movie!
Absolutely love this film! First watched it when it was originally released. Introduced it to my 18 year old daughter yesterday and she really enjoyed it too.

Classic Murphy
Great classic Eddie Murphy film the whole family can enjoy.A young prince convinces his parents to let him 'sow his wild oats' before he marries the woman picked out for him from birth. Her greatest pleasures in life are what pleases her prince, even where that means barking like a dog while hoping on one leg for him. Like most men, this isn't good enough for our prince, oh no. So he travels, naturally, to Queens, New York to find himself a queen worthy of his time and whom he can respect and not simply lust after. He falls head over heels with the first women he comes across in a non-social way and the rest of the film is basically him concealing his identity in a bid to get to know her and steal her heart from her douche boyfriend. That is until his father, the King shows up and insults his new love. Naturally. The comedic relief comes from many sources in this film. I loved it as a child and it's alright now, but guaranteed to still get a few chuckles out of you. Give it a try, if only for the Samuel L Jackson cameo!

Classic Romcom
This, aside from the SteveMartin co-starred "Bowfinger", is the best comedy of Murphy's brilliant career. A soft-R-rated romance, produced when there were few such vehicles around it's also a paean to African-American pride, though oddly one so by appealing (as Richard Pryor had previously attempted) to a mythologized view of modern Africa (see MCU Black Panther). Murphy and sidekick Arsenio Hall (a comic genius himself, who introduced us to hipster Bill Clinton with a sax solo) do carry the day, with minimal politicizing or preachiness (and lots of character makeup in a few really funny scenes). Ultimately this is about a young man's struggle to look beyond sexual desire in the search for real romantic love. There are quite a few hilarious moments on the way. Especially in a tub. A classic 1980's American film.

Fabulous 80s film
I loved it when it came out, and still love it now. It has aged really well, and it's most definitely one of my favourite Eddie Murphy films. I like Eddie Murphy although I know he's just playing an obnoxious character he still comes across a bit like that sometimes. Where in this film he plays someone honourable, well educated and sweet. This is fun and just the type of film to watch if you're having a hard time at work or at home. Stick it on the DVD get your legwarmers out buy some popcorn and Pepsi and go for it. You'll feel so much better I promise.
