Does the job, but...
This is basically a single piece of rigid steel, bent into the shape you can see. The handle is padded, but you'll still want a heat-resistant glove. It works by sandwiching the plate-setter within the lower bend on the tool, and once in place, the tool lifts the plate setter securely so it can be set aside. So far so good—it works. However, you need to start by sliding the bottom leg of Lifter into one of the 3 gaps between the plate setter legs and the wall of the cooker, then rotate it to be perpendicular to the wall of the cooker, with the tool pointing toward the center. The problem is that when the plate setter is in the "legs up" position (as for holding the grill to cook indirectly) the bottom leg of the Lifter--the piece that needs to be positioned on the bottom of the plate setter--is too long to slip between the plate setter and the wall of the Egg. You actually have to lift the plate setter by some other means in order to widen that gap and get the Lifter in, then rotate to the lifting position.I’m thankful we had those heat-resistant gloves that allowed us to grab one leg of the plate setter. We think (and will have handy next time) that the little “L” shaped tool we use for ash scraping will be able to do this small bit of lifting (just an inch or 2 is needed) to tilt the plate-setter and allow the Lifter to slide in. I'll update this review after we try that.

You also cannot remove a plate without tilting one edge up so you better get a good over-proof glove to use with this ...
Heavy duty and worked as advertised except. It would have been a 6 star except, if you use it to set the deflector plate in a Bug Green Egg with the 3 legs up (usual position) you can’t get the plate lifter out without tilting the deflector. You also cannot remove a plate without tilting one edge up so you better get a good over-proof glove to use with this lifter on your BGE.

This thing sucks
It is entirely too tight to get this thing around the plate setter in my egg. I have to work it and angle it in just ever so right and usually end up burning my hands even with gloves on. Shouldn't be this difficult.

Great Value.
A must for Kamado owners. Materials could be better. Minor rust coming out after a few weeks of use. Stored inside, in dry kitchen cabinet. Grip is basic, but gets the job done. Well worth the money spent. Easily move hot plates with confidence now.

Not what I expected.
it works great once you have it hooked on the plate setter . . . however it's not easy to get it secured without using something else to lift the plate setter high enough to get underneath it to attach the lifter.

Bought it for my Big GreenEgg XL Plate setter and ...
Bought it for my Big GreenEgg XL Plate setter and Pizza stone and it bends under the weight of the ceramics and you will have to support it with your other hand so if you are moving a hot stone it could be a little dangerous needs to be made out of thicker steel

Plate lifter for Kamado grills.
We received the plate lifter yesterday Pit Boss K24 Ceramic barbecue about the size of the large green egg. This product is well made of heavy steel and fits the heat deflector very well and is strong enough to lift it easily. Would recommend it to anyone with a Kamado grill using a heat deflector.
