Savannah (The Savannah Quartet Book 1)

if you know the city of Savannah this is a fine book to read.
2 of my friends recommended this series to me. I love the city of Savannah and live there through the winters. Reading about it and adding all the historical elements made for a good read. At times I found it slow and meandering to get to where it was going. I found the character Caroline to be too emotional and crying all the time. The city becomes a character all it’s own. Reading about the the streets and building gave me a thrill since I know it so well. I’ve already ordered the second book of the series. I recommend you to read the “Afterward” at the end of the story. It was interesting.

Awesome series!!
I love the entire quartet! These books are amazing and bring you right into the families that they are about. Every chapter is like getting a letter from home! I have read them more than once and given them as gifts, especially to those who are planning a visit to Savannah. Even though they are novels there is enough fact about them that you can actually find some of the addresses referred to and some of the graves in cemeteries there.

SAVANNAH by Eugenia Price
As a lover of history and the antebellum period I cannot express well enough in words my enjoyment reading this book.I visited Savannah briefly a year ago and fell in love instantly with the towns chat and history. I plan on going back next spring to spend a week to immerse myself in Savannah's beauty and past.I related to Mark Browning because I also instantly fell in love with this charming city. Ms. Prices eloquent writing and thorough research took me back in time. While reading her book I kept a historic map of the city within arms reach. This book instantly transported me back in time to Savannah's glorious beginning. I could picture the various historical homes and squares in my mind from my last visit. The author made me fall deeper in love with this magical city. I feel As if I have a deep personal connection with the characters that I've grown to know and love. I eagerly await to begin book two in this serries.INext year when I spend more time in historic Savannah I will also visit the cemeteries where the characters in this book have been laid to rest.If you have never visited Savannah may I suggest to readers to make a visit there. I'm sure it will capture your heart As it did mine and my daughter 's.

A beautiful story about a beautiful place.
A beautiful book. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the storyline. This should be made into a movie, I have already picked the actors.

Another time
This book has taken me so long to read. It is very slow. Just like the time period in which it discusses. Kinda predictable but I read it when I need to get out of our rat race fast paced world and take me back to a much simpler time.

Classic novel
I read this book years ago. Remembered the author writes a very good one. I like the time period it covers and it has historical facts in a story form which is my best way to learn history. Then there’s the romance side of this story. Win win. The book version I bought-pass market- had tiny print. I recommend the e-version. Enjoy.

This is a great read if you enjoy early southern history
This is a great read if you enjoy early southern history. It takes place in pre civil war days. It richly depicts the early days of Savannah, Georgia as seen thru the eyes of a northern transplant (who doesn't believe in owning slaves) and locals , who have known no other way. I have enjoyed it immensely and can't wait to read the other books of the same category. These are not new books. I read them twenty or thirty years ago. But I'm enjoying re-visiting them.

Interesting for visitors to Savannah
I began this book prior to a trip to Savannah, using the guidebook "Sojourn in Savannah," which has an excellent fold-out map, to familiarize myself with the places mentioned. Although I didn't finish "Savannah" until after my trip, I found it provided a good historical background on the city. It wasn't among the most compelling works of historical fiction I've read, but the characters were interesting and the book provided a valuable perspective on Savannah at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries.Visitors interested in the city's beautiful buildings should consider taking Jonathan Stalcup's "Architectural Tour of Savannah." The easy 90-minute walking tour included many of the places mentioned in the book and was doubly interesting because of the connections.
