Very happy with this hose reel. Easily usable and works flawlessly each time. I have soft sand soil so hammered down a 4' length of 2" Sch 80 PVC and then filled it with sand and then used the supplied anchor. Worked great! Easily removable, removed it for a recent hurricane.

Makes it easy to use the hose now and clean up is a breeze.

I hate having to use the hose for watering and then having to roll it but this hose is exactly what I was looking for. So easy to put together.

I replaced my kinked old 20ft garden hose with this wonderful auto retract thingy. I love this. Installation is not hard, it is rather easy. This works pretty well. Highly recommended.

You could definitely tell that these are no longer made in Germany. Gardena stuff used to be top-notch. The quick connect on the end of the hose is just plastic and obviously does not grip very well. The hose and blew off the first night and ran a substantial, but unknown amount of water right next to my foundation. I am returning it. STAY AWAY!!

The set up was very simple and straight forward. My two biggest complaints are that #1 the hose is a little tough to pull and #2 I wasn't able to use my own nozzle unless I buy some quick connect adaptors. So after installing this I had to buy some quick connect adaptors.Also the spray nozzle that came with it is like a mini pressure washer and I can't adjust the strength, only the spray pattern (misty to a straight stream).

I've been pondering this reel for a long time because I really like the stake design since its not a permanent mounting to your house.The reviews give it good praise, but also critique it's shortcomings. Everybody is pretty much correct. Here's the main take always:Yes, the hose is small in diameter. It does restrict the water flow significantly. I wouldn't wash a car with it. But its fine for watering plants and hosing down patio furniture.Yes, the end can slide off the hose. Have you ever replaced a hose end? They are essentially just screw tightened on to not slide off. This is the same. Mine slid off because it was loose after I unscrewed the nozzle. Once I tightened it back on it's been fine. However I do try to pull he hose from the hose itself, not the handle because that's pressure that can be avoided.Notice I took the sprayer off. Their sprayer works...but it isn't what I want (or probably anybody). Replace with spray nozzle of your choice easily with their quick connect adapters.Some complain it's hard to pull the hose out. Sort of. But only in certain situations. So maybe consider that if you're a little old lady, very petite, or have strength or balance issues. But overall it's not bad.Some report the quick connects drip. Not in my experience. I suspect poor tightening from the factory on those.The stake... Make sure you're decently close to the hose bib. Yes, the hose connector is a good length, but you need some of that as the unit swivels and turns away from the valve. Consider that when you're putting it in.I had trouble getting the stake in the ground. My dirt is very hard and clay based, so your mileage may vary. But the first time I tried I hit something in the ground that prevented me from going farther. Maybe a root or something. The second time the stake went cockeyed and went in at an angle. The screw base is strong, but doesn't really allow for dirt removal from the hole as you install. If I had a long auger bit I would have drilled a hole straight down as a guide and to remove a small amount of dirt to ease the install.Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised that because the nozzle is a quick connect, it can spin in place on the hose. That means as you pull it out and walk around, any tension that would normally cause a kink naturally "unwinds" from the handle. I don't know if I'm describing it well, but it's similar to the flexzilla hose design if you're curious to look that up.So all in all, not a perfect product here, and I'd expect more for the price. But I did decide to keep it as it fits my needs. Hope these notes help.

Very nice looking product, easy to install, Spike workers very well, self retracting also works great. Overall high quality product.

Attaches easily, allows easy watering, rolling up is OK.Slight downside on installation - the plastic base is not perfectly made, there are NO screw threads or inserts, so impossible to fix the two parts with the screws provided! I had to place threaded inserts myself.Also, make sure that the entire metal spike is in the ground, so make sure that there is nothing underneath.
