Modern Farmhouse Mantel Shelf, 72", Dark Chocolate

The mantle arrived well-packed with no damage and is beautiful. For mounting, you receive a piece of 2x4 and a few long screws and short screws, but no brackets or other hardware, such as drywall mounts, which I didn’t need. No instructions were included, but it was easy to figure out what to do. I bought masonry screws and L brackets at the hardware store. (Note: Only a maximum of two inch L brackets fit inside the mantle (hallow) without sticking out visibly). Turns out it wobbles a bit with installation using the provided materials and L brackets (I needed eight brackets total), so I had to purchase and use a second 2x4 to put on the top along with the provided 2x4 on the bottom. I used the provided 2x4 and large screws, which are visible, to mount the bottom because I didn’t want to see them on top. I had to drill small holes and use screws that weren’t visible on the top. There’s a little give, when wiggled, but it’s solid and sturdy. I really love the look of the mantle, which we put off-center to make it more modern looking on our large brick wall. This product should come with better hardware, including masonry hardware, and instructions. Otherwise, it’s great!

As you can see in the attached picture, the mantle isn’t constructed of one solid piece but pieces glued together. This is mainly on the corners where you can see 3 different colors due to the wood grain. I personally didn’t want the manmade look. Besides being unhappy with the look of the mantle, I also received the wrong color. Ordered Dark Chocolate and received Aged Oak instead.

When I saw this one I knew this is exactly what I need for our project! This is not a solid wood but is easier probably to install it?? Look great, pretty sturdy, greysh/woodish color but I love it. Goes exactly with our home. If you want to more deeper grey probably u will need to stain it more. Great mantle, I will always recommend it, also super fast shipping, faster then expected!

Easy money. Love how large the mantel is as well. Construction was also fairly well done. No issues when I received the package. We liked the look so much, we plan to order a 72” in the same stain. If only Dogberry would carry them....

We just put the mantel up today. Love it. I haven’t decorated anything yet just put some stuff up so it’s not empty. Love it. Well worth the money.

This was very disappointing. The stain was very gray/blue and looked as though it was applied and never rubbed off as is required when staining wood. It had a tacky feeling and looked splotchy. It also sticks out way too far for a floating mantel but would be fine as a mantle on top of a large fireplace.The wood is sturdy just extremely ugly. Luckily my contracter was able to sand it and cut a few inches off the back so I could re-stain it. Not worth the money.

Solid construction and nice finish. Easy to install if you know how to find a stud and have power screwdriver. We didn’t like the rustic finish the first time we ordered and they exchanged for the non-rustic/distressed with absolutely no problem. Thanks!

Waited over six weeks for this & am absolutely disappointed. Its cheap pine nailed together, no style, lousy stain job, ugly gray, smelly, and NO DRYWALL SCREWS!
