VITCOCO Ear Wax Removal Tool

I was expecting something much worse for the price but this is pretty well made. The app is probably the weakest point but even that does the job apart from the slightly annoying way it adds a black circle around the video when watching live that isn’t there on playback. It isn’t very integrated with iOS either though meaning (I think anyway) that it wasn’t able to save the video to my camera roll and only saved it within the app instead but still it definitely does the job I wanted it to do and presumably other apps will connect with it too so better ones might come out in future.The actual device is pretty well made and connects to my phone via its own WiFi. My only real criticism is that the spoon is designed to extend further than the camera which means that you have to extra careful when manoeuvring around your ears because you might think you are safe and further away from your ear drum due to the camera showing you one position, only to push a little further forward to get some wax which means you can easily pierce the ear drum. Most people probably won’t have the patience or dexterity or wherewithal to use it that carefully or safely so I fear they some people can do some damage to themselves with this.Still it does the job well enough and I am glad to have something that means I don’t have to rely on doctors or anyone else to see what’s going on with my ears. I will only use this VERY sparingly though out of fear of pushing too far into my ear and damaging the ear drum. The little covers for the tip spoon are easy enough to get on and off too which I expected to be more of a hassle so I was pleasantly surprised overall by this little gadget especially with such a cheap price tag.

Suprisingly clear camera, the rubber ends make it quite comfortable to use, and battery life is good for a long session of ear cleaning

Inside tool and accessories are in a plastic tray - the heads are in a handy storage tube (4.5 cm long), and the tool has a click on plastic cover. It comes with a USB charging cable but is also charged for first use.The instructions are full colour and include information on how to download the app, example pictures, precautions for use and some trouble shooting.The app and easy enough to use, but on an android phone the wi-fi connection would drop or camera freeze mid use. So a bit of patience is required when using it.The light and camera are very good, and it does provide a detailed picture showing hairs, dried skin and wax build up. The tool to scrape away the wax works quite well but does tend to block the camera signal.Some key points- you need a steady hand to use the camera and more particularly the scraper especially when near the ear drum- there is a reason why doctors say don't put anything bigger than an elbow in your ear, you use this tool at your own risk, make sure the scraper is firmly attached before starting- realistically I think you can't operate this on your own ear, so you need a friend to do the honors. Especially as you might need to restart the app to re-connect during use- unsure how you get replacement tips, 5 scrapers are provided and two less useful mushrooms, this probably limits the life- it does allow you to remove ear-wax, so it can allow you to avoid making nurse appointments for syringing/vacuuming, this is driving my 4 star rating.Overall - a high risk but potentially very useful gadget, if you have a friend with a steady hand.

Excellent camera quality, excellent lighting, zero lag with Bluetooth. Only regret is that I didn’t buy this years ago!

This otoscope is great in theory. I like the light and the camera quality isn’t grainy or terrible.I did have trouble with the device staying connected to my phone though and also it was nearly impossible to manoeuvre the camera to see anything but the side wall of my ear canal, let alone my ear drum.Would be nice if it also came with blackhead removal attachment like some others I’ve seen so I could also use it for that. Unfortunately it doesn’t.It’s ok but I think there a definitely better options out there.

It works by wireless, not Bluetooth, and you connect your phone to the wireless hotspot the device creates. The process was simple and was tested with an up to date Operating system Android phone. There is a QR code you can scan to download the relevant app. The videos can also be recorded if you like watching inner ear videos.The shaped end tips you attach to the device lock in place so there should be no danger of losing one in your ear. The probe, but not the body of the device is IP67 rated, meaning it is dust proof, and water proof for up to 30 minutes in 1 metre or less of water.Be careful cleaning the surface of the lens so as not to scratch it. I would suggest a standard cotton bud may be too large and a smaller bud might be easier to clean it with.The light is bright and the image very clear, making it easy to scoop / prise out wax and other detritus from the ear canal. It is so much safer than using a cotton bud or similar as that just tends to push the wax and stuff further into the ear, eventually causing a hard build up and potentially blocked ears.PS - The videos of ear wax removal can be pretty gruesome but that’s not this cleaners fault!Anyway, 5 stars from me.

The extended scoop part that cannot be removed means I cannot see inside the ear. I had the previous version of this which didn’t have the scoop extension and could see right inside the ear - Very disappointed!
