Pumps-A-Lot Water Powered Water Pump with a 24 Foot Discharge Hose

I bought this to take the last 4” of water out of my above ground pool. It says it can work in just half an inch of water. It works in even less water than that! I highly recommend this product. It made emptying my pool so much easier!

Minus one star because there was a pinhole leak in the discharge hose, but it wasn’t enough to e much of a problem. A moderate flow from my hose resulted in a substantial flow of water out of my fountain along with nearly all of the dirt and debris from the bottom of my fountain. The large discharge hose is a little cumbersome to work with but it does work well — you just have to deal with quite a lot of water coming out. I had this sort of pump a long time ago and was so glad to have found this one and I’m quite happy with it.

We have a small duck pond, 125 gallons. This thing is fantastic, it’s nice because we just hook the hose up and it empties the pond in like 10 min top. I haven’t noticed any pinholes in it, I read that in some of the comments.

We bought this to use for opening our pool. After the winter our pool was pretty nasty. We hooked the garden hose up , turned it on and even the algae was sucked up and gone.

The unit is very light and does not sink to the bottom, allowing the pressure of the water above to force it to suction properly. I had to bungee cord a hammer to the base to add weight. There were a number of pinhole leaks in the hose. We’re keeping it because our former heavier metal suction unit was lost and we needed a few quick substitute. It was delivered in 2 days.

If not for this pump I would be emptying my 3’ round 3’ deep pond with a bucket!! Thank you!!!!

This product was not useful in cleaning the bottom of a pre-formed pond. Since the water hose comes in on one side, and the discharge hose comes out the other, with the suction port in between, you have to constantly reposition yourself and the hoses to try and suction from the edges of the pond. How one would even use this without attaching some type of handle or other suction tube is beyond me. I made a handle from pvc and water hose adapters and still could not get it to work well.

The only issue I had was the hose that came with it has pin holes. It does drain my pool quicker than the traditional method and will come in handy if the power is out during a hurricane.
