Engine Valve cover gasket set for honda odyssey
Everything looks good except it was extremely hard to put the spark plug tube seals in place, even after I already put them in the freezer overnight like some folks have suggested. I am happy with this, no more oil leak from the engine.

Perfect fit for the Honda J35A7 engine
I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey EX-L with the J35A7 engine.Visually inspected these gaskets and seals before installation and they appear high quality. No visible molding issues, irregularities or flashing. Fit Perfectly. Installed with no issues. Used all kit components, including the bolt grommets. It’s only been a couple of weeks since installed, but no leaks so far. The spark plug tube seals do not feel as pliable as the Honda equivalent. So I did have some concern about how snuggly they would conform to the tube and prevent leaks. Time will tell. Maybe the extra firmness will increase the life.Note: There is more than one v6 model for the Ody, and Felpro makes a kit for both, so be sure you select the correct kit for your engine. I see so many people complain that the gasket does not fit and give a bad rating, when it’s clear they actually picked the wrong version of the kit for their engine. Be certain of the trim for your van, or use your VIN to confirm the part fits. The only difference in the part # is the "1" at the end. The EX-L has the i-VTEC J35A7 engine which has the ramp-up the side of the rear valve cover, but not the front cover. So the front and rear gaskets are different lengths and shapes. If you find yourself adding engine oil periodically from a slow leak, this is the good place to start looking, especially if you have 100K-200K+ miles like my van. I had small leak from the front valve cover gasket. Also, my old spark plug tube seals were rock hard and no longer effective, so I had oil leaking into a couple of the spark plug tube wells which causes problems with your plugs, coil packs, and performance. If you have this problem, you should plan to clean out those wells and replace the spark plugs and (potentially) the coil packs as part of this job. The payback in performance was very noticeable. I was able to clean and salvage one of my coil packs, but needed to replace the other. This is also a good opportunity to check your EGR ports as well.

Spark plug tube seals require caution
This fit my 2007 Honda Pilot EXL with J35Z1 engine perfectly. Watch a video on installing the tube seals before you try to put them in, they are easy to hurt using a socket to install. I'd recommend putting the socket with the drive end (more solid) towards the tube seal so you are less likely to rip the seal while hammering it in. Also, consider buying extra tube seals, available separately, in case you mess one up while you have the job torn apart...

While you're at it it maybe a good idea to replace the plenum gaskets as well since ...
One is Blue, the front one and the other is black for the rear. It came with grommet for the spark plug wells which was my whole reason to replace this set. It also came with the metal covered rubber washer that went with the screws that holds the valve covers down. There is a trick to insert these to the screws, do a search and you'll find videos. The quality of these washers seemed a bit off than the factory OEM washers that are on the car. Besides that everything worked out perfectly. While you're at it it maybe a good idea to replace the plenum gaskets as well since you're removing that to get to the valve covers. Oh yes and the spark plugs and if you're really ambitious ignition coils as well. Labor for these are way up there if you were to go to a shop. Another tip if you haven't done this before is that the grommets for spark plug well is a one piece item. So after removing the split rubber part that sticks out there may still be the o-ring part that's left on the valve. Once the grommet completely removed you'll see shiny metal around where the grommet would go. It did throw me off a bit and cost me couple of hours to figure this out. Good Luck.

Proper vcg for I-Vtec (variable cylinder)
Correct valve cover gasket for variable cylinder I-Vtec v6 as found in the touring model and later exl trim of 3rd gen Honda OdysseyIf you have smoke from under the hood this is the likely cause. Especially if you smell burning oil. Since the front valve cover is directly over the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter, oil leaks out and is burned on the hot cat. It doesn’t take that long and fairly easy to do for a novice. Don’t put it off as this condition will at most start a vehicle fire and at best you’ll be breathing in burnt oil through the vents. Not good for your health, either way.
