great at putting the smoothest edge on a knife.
I bought this to put the smoothest edge on a knife. I usually go from 400 grit and gradually go up to the 3000 grit. I find the edge lasts longer when you have polished the burrs away. My only problem is that the process doesn't help to keep the angle of the blade consistent. Now I use an electric sharpener to get a fair edge and then use 1500 to 3000 grit to polish the edge.

Sharpen knives and many other things
I use these plates to sharpen all my kitchen knives periodically when the blades can't be honed sharp anymore. Super accurate edge finish. Extremely sharp results. Diamond stones also useful for other sharpening/misc uses. Used with a sharpening system.

Diamonds fall off
After sharpening one knife from Walmart with very soft steel made in China, the diamonds wore off turning a 240 grit into 1000+ grit, not worth it

no machine required
The media could not be loaded. I am using this bear without a machine nor jig. The most important thing to know is that these are in advanced product and do not include an instruction manual. You will need to know for instance, that it is essential to add water before after and even during usage. These are superb stones and recommended to use them right so that you can use them for the long-haul.I intend to and like this sharpener very much. I may repackage them for better storage however. Like these very much.

Edge pro style
These stones are a cheap alternative to the edge pro stone that come in at $20 a stone. The metal/diamond plate is glued into a plastic shell for stability. They are pretty nice and work fine. I think it would be nice to have some kind of case and it would be much better to have the grits listed on the back instead of the surface that is going to get worked on.
