The author does a good job for pool novices. I just converted from a “fresh water” pool to salt. There seems to be a mystique to salt water. At the end of the day, you need to remember a few things: maintain proper Ph; maintain proper water level to prevent pumps from cavitation and be prepared to add muriatic/hydrochloric acid at least weekly.What’s my point? I have a Pentair Intellichlor salt generator. I still have no idea after reading this book whether I should set it on 20%, 40% or 60%. The instructions with the device don’t help either. However, for novices, this is a great primer. I just was looking for more tedious detail.

Although well written and easy to follow, most of the information is in your owner’s manual—unless you dug a hole yourself and lined it with concrete. The details for which I was looking-how to manage imbalances in the chemistry is not included. There are references to what to do but not specifics.I’ll keep looking for a book that offers more detail. At least I didn’t have to pay for it.

Gift for a new home owner and first time pool owner. He said it was just what he needed.

I was expecting more information specifically about maintaining a salt water pool. As the previous review said, this book provided very basic and general pool information that is applicable to all pools. I was disappointed in the product and because of the cost, I will be returning it. It is not worth $17.

Very short book not worth the price. The book has very limited information and 30 of the 80 pages are a glossary. The 50 pagers are in large print with very basic information. Retail Value of the book is $2.99.
