Good resourse for those who enjoy the insider details of a great old house like Versailles. The author has hands on experience and knowledge.

A day at Versailles is part of a series of four books, the others being about the chateaux Vaux-le-Vicomte, Fontainebleau and 'a day with Marie-Antoinette'; al four books our beautiful in their own right with lots and lots of pictures and interesting facts. An easy and interesting read and a must have for royalty fans.

Such beauty and atmosphere is difficult to comprehend. Any one who has been at Versailles or wanted to visit, should love this book.

What a beautiful book! I ordered this as I am visiting Versailles soon as a 'big birthday' treat, and I wanted to learn a bit about it in advance and ensure that I see as much as I can. This is a really beautiful book, well illustrated and beautifully presented within a slip case and will also be a lovely souvenir of my visit. There is enough detail within the book to give an understanding of the history of the place and what to see but no so much that it becomes boring. Some reviewers had commented about the very small print - well I wear glasses for reading and had no trouble whatsoever in reading the print as long as I had on my glasses, I certainly didn't need the magnifying glass suggested by one reviewer. The beautiful illustrations are a mix of photographs of the palace and gardens, reproductions of contemporary illustrations and photos of the palace as used in a commercial context (i.e. supermodels and fashion photoshoots) but I found them all relevent and interesting. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
