My friends cat goes bananas over this thing: mine are totally disinterested and walk away unamused! I find it almost a little creepy the way it slithers over the floor, and it is actually quite loud so in a way I am glad my cats don't like this! It didn't seem to sense any motion either. It's in the bin with the other 100 cat toys that my furballs ignore. But a tossed Snickers wrapper or a glitter ball (yay, they are back in stock after being gone for almost three years!!): they can play with those for hours...!!!

Item works decently only on smooth surfaces such as wood or tile. DO NOT expect it to work on no pile/smooth carpet and definitely not on regular carpet. It gets hung up on things such as a thin doormat.My cat actually likes this toy. Sadly, the apartment is very small and mixture of flooring surfaces.I would be willing to pay more if I find one similar that will transition surfaces and work on carpet.I recommend only if for hard surfaces. It is very cheap plastic, as expected for the price.

My cat is apparently a party-pooper. I was disappointed that she sat and watched it run around for a bit and just left the room. Bummer. It probably works better with kittens. I was more interested than she was! I tried it with my ferrets, who were definitely interested, but all they wanted to do was catch it and destroy it. I gave it to my son for his young cat, and his cat was afraid of it. So your mileage may vary ...

it moves as expected but it scared my cats to bits. They won't play with it. Good for mature and bold cats, but not so much for young cats.

This toy is so cute as it moves across the floor. But my cat wasn’t interested in it at all, especially since it won’t move on carpet.

the snake moves easily over hard surfaces but does not run well if at all over carpets. My cats are curious & tentatively approach the snake but did not interact with the toy at first but now I have to put the snake away at night so I can sleep without the sound of wheels going off, cats love it

This is our second snakey. The first eventually died after a year, mainly from picking up too much hair and fuzz in its roller-feet. I did take the first one apart and picked out the fuzz with tweezers, but one wheel eventually stopped working completely, rendering the snakey just moving in a tight circle. Thus the replacement. Anyway, the cats sit and watch it until it stops, then pounce on it to get it moving again. This is great brain stimulation for indoor cats. It is a bit noisy, so turn it on when you're not in the room, or tune it out.

It's great at first. My cats were chasing it, so I could get my housework done. Sadly, they lost interest, and ignore it most of the time.
