Was I hooked while reading this book? No I was entranced
I finished this book and I can't get this stupid smile off my face, I loved this book it was sweet, funny, hot, and Kade was a GREAT hero. I love that it took a little longer for Kade and Raya to get together and while Kade "hates" Raya we get to see glimpses of how he really feels as well as their bickering this was an all around great book. I got this book for free but I would have gladly paid for it in fact I don't know why everyone who owns a kindle and loves romance doesn't have this on their kindle or reading device right now. This was just what I needed, when I had to put it down for real life I would sneak and read it and as I was turning on my kindle I would get all excites and smile like yes again a fool. But how could I not this book was just that good.Kade and Raya live next to each other while in college and that where the similarities end. Kade is cocky, rich, good looking, and the guy who has everything handed to him and everything(and then some) he wants. Raya is on scholarship saves every penny and works hard. Going to College was a dream but she quickly found out that college can be as bad as high school. When Kade throws another party and it gets out of hand some boys use a bulldozer from a nearby construction sight to bulldoze her house, now homeless and broke Raya is given the offer by Kade's father to live with Kade while also making Kade live by her rules. Not wanting to but with no other options Raya agrees.Raya quickly finds out that Kade is everything she thought he was and worse, but there are times Raya see's something else when she looks at Kade and that just ends up confusing her more. When the kids who want something from Kade make Raya's life miserable it is Kade who steps in to help instead of cause problems. Now the times when Kade is a jerk are a lot less than the times Kade is nice and fun. The more time Kade and Raya spend together the more Raya see's that there is more than one side to Kade, and the closer they both become and Raya begins to believe they may be more. But a family trip Raya was invited to shows Raya that Kade and Raya are only friends or so she thought. As Kade and Raya begin to fall in love Raya's past and Kade's past collide and what may finally tear them apart may be Kades mistrust and even though Raya is heartbroken Raya may be the only one who can help Kade.I wish I could tell you how much I loved this book, it literally had everything I was looking for in a book I loved Kade he was a great hero. he was everything I love in my book men: possessive, a little cocky, strong, smart, kind, and loving. Raya was also a great heroine she was both vulnerable and strong as well as sweet and though she knew what people thought of her she herself knew her worth. I loved the twist in this book it just added another layer of why I loved this book. I can't wait till I get to read Kade's side(and I don't always like reading the same book from another POV) but I can not wait to get into Kade's head and see his side and his thoughts. I will also be reading the other books in this series about the side characters in this book. I kept thinking as I was reading I hope he gets a book, oo I hope him too, I hope she does as well. C.M.Owens is a brilliant author I can't wait to read more from her, this book had me not only hooked from the first page but entranced.

A really nice surprise!
4,5 stars‘Hooked on the game’ is the first book that I read from C.M. Owens. I was intrigued by the blurb so I decided to give this book a chance. Because of my huge love for new adult books, I thought that I knew what to expect, but this story took me by surprise. Yes, this book began like I expected, the girl hates the guy because she thinks that he’s an arrogant rich guy who looks down on her BUT the more I read , the more I realized that I was wrong. Kade was totally different than I expected him to be. There was much more to him than you would think. I became totally hooked on the story and I’m really looking forward to the next book of this series!Raya Capperton had hoped that leaving her little town behind and moving to Sterling Shore for college could be the fresh start that she so desperate needed but sadly she hadn’t counted on the many rich kids that would be there. Rich kids that look down on the poor kids like her. And just when she thinks that things couldn’t be worse, some drunken guys destroy the house where she lives. And then through circumstances she has to lived together with the most arrogant guy of college, Kade Colton.Raya isn’t happy about it but she’s desperate enough to do it. But she never expected that she and Kade would become friends. Or that she would fall in love with him but that’s just what happens. But is it really possible for a poor girl like her to have a relationship with a rich guy like Kade? What will Kade do when he discovers the secrets that Raya is hiding from him?I really liked this story. I found the storyline refreshing and I really liked the fact that you could feel that there was much more to Kade and the story than you would think. And although it had his little drama, this book was an easy and fun read.Raya and Kade were a real nice surprise to me. Raya was the perfect mixture between ‘tough’ and ‘soft’. She really tried her best to stay on the good side of things. And Kade, yes Kade, the more I read of him, the more I fell from him. You could really feel that he was draw to Raya and that he did things to protect her but it was very subtle and I love that. The side characters were also very enjoyable. This story is told from Raya’s POV but the next book in this series is the same story but this time from Kade’s POV and I must confess that I’m really curious about that one. So that’s the next book that I will read!

It’s got romance, comedy and a con thrown in for good measure – what’s not to love!
Loved this book from start to finish – it just kept getting better and better. This one is just told through Raya’s perspective so it makes it that much more interesting while you are trying to figure out what Kade might be thinking.Raya came to Sterling Shore for a fresh start, to go to a college in a town where no one would know her past and judge her for it. All was working out fine until her roommates decided to play a prank and get expelled. Now she has bills coming in and house she can’t afford on her own and to make matters worse the rich brat next door is having a party until the early hours again. Kade and his parties have been the bane of her existence for so long and now is no exception. Especially when four of the party goers decide to smash through her fence and then take a joy ride on a bull dozer ending right in her house. After almost being crushed to death Raya is out for some compensation. The frat boys might have been expelled for what they did but it was Kade’s party so she wants him to pay. Only problem is that he has a fancy lawyer and it looks like he is going to get off. That is until Kade’s father tells the judge of the perfect punishment – Raya will move in with Kade and everything he does from then on out will have to be okayed by her. With little option left – even though she hates him – she agrees to this. Now the real games can begin.Raya really can’t get a feel for Kade. He seems like a complete bastard one moment and then completely turns around and does something nice. After finding out that her clothes got fiberglass in them his father demands Kade take her shopping. Its here she starts to see a change in him. While being fitted with a death trap – I mean corset – too tight Kade comes in to help her out of it. She might have been embarrassed but at the time she couldn’t breath. This is where Kade sees her bruises for the first time and it’s the first time you can see a crack in his armor – that and the first time he seems to notice her curves. You can tell he wants to do more than look and in that moment Raya is starting think that wouldn’t be such a bad thing. From his moment of kindness Raya barely sees Kade in the following weeks at home but after the grief she is getting at college from other students about why she might be living with him she is beginning to rethink whether she should stay at all. After a bit of a wake up call from Kade though – he has a swimming pool so you can guess what he does – she decides to stick it out. But the longer she stays the more she starts to get to know the real Kade – not the one he projects to the world – and it doesn’t take long for her to realize she might just be falling for him. But with a past like hers she can’t see it ever happening. Can the prince ever be with the con-mans daughter? In the end though when trouble strikes she might just be the one person who he needs the most.I loved the back and forth between the two of them. The fact you don’t know what Kade is thinking makes it that much more interesting as you are trying to figure him out at the same time Raya is with how he acts or what he says. They go from hating each other to the best of friends, while both are secretly hoping that it could be more. The sexual tension between them is great and you just know that when they get together it is going to be explosive – which it is!Thought this book was great. It’s got romance, comedy and a con thrown in for good measure – what’s not to love! But there are always two sides to every story and Kade finally gets his next in Kade’s Game.https://readingnook84.wordpress.com/2015/11/04/book-review-hooked-on-the-game-by-c-m-owens/

I love the name of this as I was hooked on ...
I love the name of this as I was hooked on the boom now I'm hooked on this series! At the start of this you expect Kade to be the bad boy that ends up really changing to be with Raya. that is not the case though and right from the start when you start getting to know him you can see he is really cares and has his head screwed on for the future. Normally you read about the guys who live in the now and don't plan ahead but everything Kade does is for his future. Kade is super rich whereas Raya isn't so throughout this she believes she isn't good enough for him and will taint his name if she stays around. she does give the relationship a try though and all is good for a while until an ex of Kades comes to spill the beans about Raya's past. Kade then says some things and they break up but the reason she stays away is because she doesn't believe she will ever be enough for him because of her past. I love that at the end it is her past that helps Kade out. Even though they weren't speaking she went to see him when something happens to one of his family members and that's when she realises that him and his family are on the way to losing everything that matters to Kade. This is when her past comes in to help out without Kade even knowing what she does. I really did enjoy this book! and is has some great supporting characters that I can't wait to read about.

Enjoyable read
I have enjoyed this authors Deadly Beauties Series and like her writing style. I'm not a great fan of paranormals so was pleased when I saw she had written this contemporary series. There was a great build up to Kade and Raya's romance and I enjoy stories like that as I'm not a fan of insta love. The pacing of their romance was spot on. The love scenes are well written but nothing too graphic. I really liked both Kade and Raya but I was left wondering why Kade has kept himself remote from his family (apart from his Grandfather) when they seemed so lovely. That was a bit puzzling but there is apparently a book to come from Kade's POV so maybe it will be explained more in that. The book flowed really well until towards the end when I thought more could have been made of the fall out between Kade and Raya. I was expecting a big argument but it just sort of petered out and then jumps to a fortnight later where things seem to have moved along quickly with concern to Raya's Dad and it almost felt like I had missed a chapter out?I felt it became a bit far fetched towards the end but then I enjoyed that we got to see Kade fight for Raya. All in all, this was an enjoyable read and a nice romance. I definitely like the way this author writes. Some good characters were introduced and I'm looking forward to reading their stories in the series. It's Tag next and that one sounds good!

The only problem is Raya has a family criminal past and Kade is a socialite badboy destined for great things. Will it work
This is book 1 in the Sterling Shore Series. This is the story of Kade and Raya. Raya escaped her small town by getting a scholarship to college leaving behind all the gossips who talked about her behind her back because of her father. Kade is The preppy rich boy who lives next door to Raya and does nothing but socialize and throw wild parties, making Raya's life a misery. One day Raya is trying to figure out how to stay in Sterling Shore when she's about to lose her house and Kade as usual is having a wild party. Some of the party goers are drunk and manage to demolish her house. After a court ruling Raya has no option but to take up Kade's fathers offer for her to stay in Kade's house with him. The story goes from here seeing their relationship at the lowest point bordering on hatred to falling hard for each other. The only problem is Raya has a family criminal past and Kade is a socialite badboy destined for great things. Will it work?? Can it work?? The story goes from here.I loved these two characters! I loved how Raya is so sweet and innocent but she has a pretty badass side that she tries to his from everyone. Kade is also pretty similar in that he hides behind the persona he thinks he needs to portray in order to be successful. There are some major miscommunication between these two and when they finally get together i actually shouted out hooray!!! but... of course true love never runs smoothly but the HEA is definitely worth the wait!I can't wait to read the rest of the series!! Kades Game is next which is this story but from Kades point of view. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!!! I loved it great start to a new series!

More could have been made of the twist
3.5 STARSA young adult book, which seemed a bit far fetched.Part "Pretty Woman"-esque (when Kade's Dad is foisting new clothing onto Raya - including an outfit for formal functions- which I thought was weird and presumptious?!), there is actually a very interesting twist and the twist made it more unique but I really think the author played it down too much, and it was only really revealed too far towards the end.Kade clearly has money - and Raya could have money, but chooses not to take her father's "dirty" money.I think that it would have been a lot better if more had been given to explain all Raya's feelings towards her family earlier on in the book, because the reader never really engaged with her because you never get to fully understand her background and upbringing and what is the driver behind her hatred of taking her father's money. She is in a situation which she probably doesn't need to be.When she is faced with being homeless, Kade's father makes Kade make a sacrifice as a punishment to being involved with what he sees as his indirect actions leading to Raya losing her home/everything.During the book, it felt like there were chunks missing and I lost the thread of the story a few times. I remember thinking that I would have loved to understand Kade's POV on occasions, as I think that that was the missing link. I see that the author has released a book purely on Kade's POV. Whilst I do like that, I hate that it is a separate book. It means that I am reading the same story over, knowing the outcome this time, just to see the other side. It should have been incorporated into the original book - IMO.Won't download the sequel's as I did not vest into the characters to want to know or care to read more about them.
