The Strategic Teacher: Selecting the Right Research-Based Strategy for Every Lesson

I teach junior high history, and we do a LOT of reading and classroom activities. However, I'm always open to new reading techniques that are engaging. I like to keep my students focused with goal-oriented tasks, and I have gotten some really great ideas from this book. I'm able to make modifications to many of these activities as most teachers have to do. There are still many strategies I have not used in this book, but I haven't had time to go through all of it. Reading is so essential, but we teachers get bored with utilizing the same methods all the time. I know that if I am bored with something, then so are the students...times two! My classes have so far enjoyed the structured activities and really like the ones that hold them responsible for learning the material. I highly recommend this book for new and seasoned teachers. I have 15 years in the classroom and there is always more to learn!

I’m a mid career teacher and am always looking for new ideas! This is one of the best books I’ve read. It’s more succinct than The Skillful Teacher and just as revolutionary. It has great research, useful ideas that are subject specific and provides clarity on which skills and content it can target. I prompt suggested two friends read it! I highly recommend it!!

The Strategic Teacher provides research-based strategies to fit many different teaching goals. The key to effectively using this book is know your goals; the book will help walk you through the most effective strategies based on those goals. It is a great way to expand the ways that you teach to fit a variety of learners and contexts. Rather than raising up 'one' teaching strategy as the best in a dogmatic way, the book embraces the reality that different teaching goals and contexts demand different strategies. In some cases, presentation is perfectly appropriate (if mastery of information is a goal), while problem solving, puzzles or interpersonal dialogue are suited to deeper understanding of a concept or building of relationships between students.As a grad student in Education, I know that I will reach for this book to figure out the HOW of teaching and to ensure that I design units of learning that use a variety of effective strategies.

Has good strategies. Honestly a useful book for teaching.

I wasn't expecting this to be delivered until Aug 1st. Came in 4 days early and in pristine like new condition. To say 8 am pleased with this purchase would be an understatement. Excellent service!

This book is for a college course for college students who will be student teaching next semester. I am their College Supervisor and I bought a copy for myself so I know what they are learning. It is well written and has easy to implement strategies. I wish I had this before I retired.

The strategies included are relevant for the classroom and have examples of how to implement them.I'll definitely be using this book with my staff.

As a student teacher, I was looking for a book with teaching strategies based on sound research and this is it! Everything is detailed and easy to implement with clear links to research. I really love this! For active learning, you will find a wealth of approaches for numeracy, literacy, HWB, and other topics. Highly recommend.

The item arroved quickly with no damage. The quality of the paper of the book itself was not good ( rough and grey like colouringbook paper)
