What I assume is meant by "not for larger cats" is the hammock. If you have a cat that likes to lay in the hammock, then you need a larger one. You would have to look into that brand, see if they have larger sizes.

Q: The base had no holes for the brush ends, how am I supposed to attach it?

You have to turn it over to see the holes. Then with one hand, guide one end into the first hole, and then do the same for the other hole. Don’t make the hole bigger, or it will not be tight, and the arch will keep falling down as the cats try to use it.
