Is this an accessory item that is added to the RK9003?

Yes. Unfortunately, most people may not find it all that useful. The sliding arm that comes with it can be reversed for larger sizes and this accessory enables you to hold larger pieces, which you probably won't find very useful most of the time.

what is the difference between the 9000 and 9003 model jawhorse.?

Hi Dr Dave, when I was buying I was also very curious about what the difference was. From what I researched, the only changes I found where:1) Paint job2) The placement of the switches used to fold down the front two legs. The 9000 model has them hidden behind the front mount, very easy to get to and I haven't had any problem with there placement. The new 9003 model seems to have them placed in front above each leg marked as yellow switches. Either way, I don't think there is much of a difference and would purchase whichever one you get a better deal on. Hope that helps!

How useful is the "folding" feature of this model?

If you mean for storage it is EXCELLANT! The legs fold in and out of the way. It minimizes the space required to store it. Plus it is in that position already to roll it around if need be. It weighs 20 lbs or so.
