I doubt it. I have those too and those are for paper. They are not dry erase type of markers.

Q: What type of replacement pens can be used on the pad?

Neon dry erase markers, window markers, or "Neon Pens for Light Up LED Board."

Q: Can regular highlighter markers be used if the pens dry out?

I would assume so; however, dry erase markers or window markers seem to be a better fit. Expo even has neon dry erase markers. Amazon has some dual sided neon LED pens that work too.
