Marcus Aurelius deserve better
The reflections and thoughts of the Emperor and Philosopher deserved a better edition and easier to read. It's not about the words and a difficult English. It is actually the reproduction of another book that is in the public domain of the USA. Anyway, It's a valuable book to every one who love's ancient Philosophy and Roman history.

Go with the translation by Hays!
I bought this book because of my interest in ancient Rome and the fact that it seems to have served both saints and statesmen so well. Not this translation. Punctuation is strange, a word in a phrase will repeat within that same phrase. The translation is inaccurate insofar as I don't think Marcus Aurelius ever called any group of people "guys". Stick to Mr Hays's translation, just as other reviewers have said. Wish I'd previewed this book. Can't return it, either.
