An actual collapsible shovel!
I did not think it was possible. But this thing is legit.I thought there was no way they could make anything with a long handle that screws together that can also handle the force required of a shovel or an ax or a saw, let alone all those things. But this is no lightweight. The threads are precision and smooth. I am not going to be afraid of using this for all its advertised purposes. This is not lightweight. Don't get this thinking it will work for long backpacking trips when you are trying to keep weight to a minimum. But if you want one thing that can do multiple jobs, this could be what you are looking for. OR maybe you just want a full size, heavy duty shovel, but you need to fit it in a small space. This WILL work for you.One thing that made me skeptical was the compass in the top of the handle. Every single tiny compass I have checked out has been absolutely useless. And usually when a company adds a tiny compass to a thing, it is just an underhanded gimmick to sell a low quality product. But this one actually works. I couldn't believe it. I had to spend a few minutes just playing around with the compass to make sure I wasn't imagining it. But it actually works. There are extra tools that fit into different sections of the handle. I don't know how much I'll be using those. But if I have to, they are definitely designed in a way that makes them actually useful and usable. But the other nice thing about the handle sections is that they are all hollow. You can add a few other small items if you wanted like a pen or some bandaids or even some cash.Something else I like about the design of the additional items. The ones you are most likely to use in an emergency situation are the most accessible. The compass is at the very top. The flint and whistle are both right inside the very top. Absolutely practical design.I am completely impressed with the quality and level of craftsmanship. The people who designed this really thought about how to make it useful. I am very pleasantly surprised to find out they accomplished what I didn't think possible. This can fit in a tiny apartment, little car, small tool box, wherever; yet it can still do the job of a full sized shovel.I have to note, I'm almost loathe to use this as a shovel because the blade and saw on either side of the spade are so sharp. I hate to dull them with digging. But I also know how to sharpen something if needed. As a backup tool for many uses, I am very happy to have this.Five out of five. Would recommend.

Great for metal detecting enthusiasts!
My dad carries this when he detects in the woods. He says its perfect for breaking ground & when he needs to cut thru small, stubborn roots. He likes this one better than his last shovel which was similar to this however, it had a "cut out" which would continually get caught on brush & vines, etc. as he walked through the woods while detecting. Please see pic I attached if you have time for side by side comparison of the 2 shovels. My dad said that the shovel is sturdy & doesn't feel flimsy yet its not too heavy to carry while searching in the woods. My dad says he would enthusiastically recommend this to any metal detecting enthusiast. 😁I hope his humble opinion helps you in some way. Thank you for reading.

Not as many tools as some of the others, but a good build quality and useful.
As stated, it might not have as many "doo-dads" as some of the others, but a lot of those aren't really useful or at least easy to get to when you really need them, so it sometimes is better to have a lower count multi-tool and have better tools easier to be available. One of these I have include a window smasher, compass, fire-starter, and multi-tool in the case, but you have to dig into the case to get it out, and usually shovels like these aren't just laying in the back seat, they are stored away because you usually use these at a camp, not on the side of the road. Anyway, back to this setup. It's really nice, it has soft foam handles on the shovel head shaft and the last attached shaft. It also has a saw/knife blade to use as a spear or just routine cutting. The bag itself can be carried with the included strap or attached to a molle panel, or just put in a drawer in your truck/SUV. The handles are screwed together and made of nicely finished aluminum and attach nicely, but don't get locked up like mis-machined equipment. It also has a 1/4" insert for the Phillips head and flat head screwdriver bit that is magnetically held in one of the handles, so it is a nice long screwdriver, as well as a whistle. It's a great emergency/camping tool that can be a shovel, trowel, or hoe. All in all, very nice and will be good to have in my back hatch of my SUV...

One of the best!
Very well designed, with a strong frame and the head of the shovel is sturdy enough you could even cut with it. I've bought emergency shovels in the past that are pretty wimpy. This one on the other hand is the real deal. It collapses down so you can fit in in your bug out bag or take up less room in a trunk of a vehicle, but when put together it's very strong. It comes with a case/cover too. I've ordered survival shovels that didn't even come with a case/sheath or anything to protect them or your other supplies from it. This one has it all. The company didn't skimp when they were making this, like so many of the other companies do.

This thing is quality*
I don't want to sound like an infomercial-it slices, it dices, but it's true. The edges of this shovel (for lack of a better word) are as sharp as a knife. The head of the EST shovel is some type of hardened steel. Look at the edges on this thing, it is not cast! IIRC the aluminum is high quality 7075, the threads are butter! Most of these expandable shovels have terrible threads. These threaded tube sections are NASA quality, with O-rings to keep water out.Total length is 35.5" long. Several accessories are included, compass, whistle, screwdriver attachment, bottle opener, can opener, and a course tooth knife. All appear to be very high quality. The designers pulled out all the stops designing this shovel, my compass is even liquid filled! Considering all the features, and the top-tier quality, this thing is a great deal. I love it!5-star shovel, highly recommended.
