What an inspirational man and father.
I have read "A Child Called It" several times throughout my life. The horror and pain he had to endure no human should. However, his sequels have showed how a person can rise above their raising and still be a good, wholesome, compassionate, and awesome member of society. It delivers the message of strength, resilience, and hope.

This is an actual account of David Pelzer's life.
I had read the first book( A Child Called It) to a Special Ed student to whom I often read books. That was several years ago while I was working at the local high school. I reread it and was curious to find out how the rest of his story turned out, so I purchased the other three books. It's hard for me having raised my three children by myself to comprehend how a mother could even come up with the ideas this mother came up with let alone implement them. I'm glad he got his life straightened out.

Encouraging for those who have felt discouraged and left behind. Read A Man Named Dave or another Dave Pelzer book.

Amazing Man
I have read all 3 books A Child Called It, Lost Boy and the Privilege of Youth all in 1 week. I had trouble reading the first one due to the horrible circumstances for this poor child but I made it through. I had to buy the next 2 and have just finished all 3 today. What a powerful story of loss of a childhood, struggle of a teenager and finding the love he so desperately sought. I will now read A Man Named Dave. Congratulations of a life well lived.

compelling reading
this is one of a series of dave pelzer books, following his journey from childhood to adult hood- if you have read the other books you need this one too- dave always writes well and i can never put the books down- some shocking reading from his shocking abusive childhood, but a need to read - it also has some touching and amusing moments which he conveys well.anyone can read this book, gives insight into not only the struggle faced by dave but also raises your awareness of other young people who have had a very difficult start in life.

compulsory reading
Disturbing reading. Everyone should have to read books by Dave Pelzer to understand how insidious child abuse can be. Most of us have witnessed child abuse and done nothing about it. Those who have suffered abuse need to read his books to understand they can come out of it.

NURTURE or NATURE - PELZER proves something awesome
There can hardly be a boy more abused than Dave Pelzer -if anyone had a reson to 'turn out bad' it would be him, andfolk would say 'No Wonder!'But he made good, he made choices regardless becauseof his natureIf nurture was the key to how he would turn out he's have beencompletely insane, or a mass murderer, no question.Dave Pelzer is up there with Jesus as far as I am concerned!Inspirational to the max!
