Beautiful paper, requires sizing for watercolor painting
Before I bought this paper I read other reviews to see how it would perform with watercolors. That informed me that the paper has not been “sized“. Sizing paper in manufacturing process allows it to let water sit on top of it rather than to absorb it and buckle the paper. I bought this product along with Daniel Smith’s transparent watercolor ground. I mixed the watercolor ground with water to reduce its viscosity and then I painted it on one side of each of the pieces of paper. I dried them in the sun and each set of paper I treated was dry in 45 minutes. The paper now performs as expected for wet on wet, dry on damp and dry on dry watercolor painting. If you are willing and able to do the sizing yourself, this paper is excellent value and the deckled edges are beautiful. The color is ivory.

Gorgeous quality for the price!
I used these for original linocut prints and they look amazing! Each one is unique, so there are some small flaws, but overall the quality and texture are amazing for the price. Thick and sturdy! Definitely recommend!

Very rough texture: not for everyone.
For my fine work the texture was too rough & I returned the product. For someone who loves texture, this product is very good.

Not good for traditional watercolor, too absorbent. Great for journaling. It’s a good buy.
These papers are sold in a bundle for binding into journals. That said they are also billed as watercolor paper. The paper is nice handmade paper, but it is too absorbent to be used with washes. The picture shows my test pages of each bundle. I tried a traditional wash and the paper absorbed too much water for it to work well. The wet in dry areas worked well enough. The paper took over 20 minutes to dry in the wash areas. Do buy this paper for handmade journal paper, just know it’s limitations.

I am VERY pleasantly surprised
Firstly, the paper is very rough, rougher than most cold pressed papers. It is 90lbs, so the paper is a bit on the thin side. It also buckles a lot when wet, but goes back to its flat state once dried. My biggest doubt is it's ability to retain true, vibrant color, and this paper does not disappoint. The paint I'm using here is Mission gold, notorious for their vibrancy. You can see that the colors are bright. I think I should test this with a student grade paint to see if it works for them too.The sizing on this papet is very nice. I can easily create even gradients of colors. Even mission gold paint flows on the surface of this paper, which is quite nice as they don't flow that much on other papers. This paper is THIRSTY for water though. If you want good gradients, you should wet the paper thoroughly first. In conclusion, I really like this paper and would definitely buy more.

I make watercolor cards and have gone through all 50 pages in 3 months! I like this paper!
Sorry for the poor-quality picture, but I had seen where others had said you can't watercolor on this paper. That is ALL I have done on it, plus some pen and ink. I like to make my greeting cards out of cardstock for stability, and then attach a small watercolor painting to the front. When I saw how pretty this paper looked with its deckled edges, I wanted to try it. I'm not a professional artist by any means, but I loved how this paper responded to the watercolors....and I used good paints on it. I sold quite a bit of the cards, and gave the rest away for Christmas. I've had compliments and questions about the paper and have told folks where to purchase it. So I'm happy with my purchase and will buy again!

lovely watercolor paper
At 40 cents per sheet, I think this is by far the best value on here for thick handmade paper. The painting needs to be started with a wash otherwise the color won't soak in well. But that's not uncommon with high priced paper too.I got my pack of 50 sheets this morning and just tried a quick little scene - and I think I'm going to hoard this and order one more right away.

Not great for washes and poor wettability
This paper is not 100% cotton. Cotten does not take that much time to get wet and once wet takes for ever to dry up. The only advantage I see is less chances of run back. Overly textured paper can that takes pigment unevenly that can only be useful if one needs to use this paper for loose water coloring. I am not sure how am going to utilize 50 sheets. I wish if they made packs of 5 for trial purposes now my money appears to be wasted.

Very thin paper
This paper is too thin for any wet media, bleeds through.
