5 Piece Filter Savers, Skimmer Socks

They work nicely. I have read that others say they ripped or tore too soon. Mine was on the filter for over a month before it ripped. For a thin fabric sock...I thought that was a very acceptable life span. They work great, trapping leaves and small debris to keep the large filters cleaner and the whole pool system working better. I have several mesquite and palo verde trees around my pool and get lots of tiny leaves in the basket. Many leaves were slipping past the baskets and into the filter making it a mess when I cleaned it out quarterly. These little socks keep the debris in the basket and my filters were nearly clean last time I took filter apart. The whole pool systems works better this way and it is much easier for me to empty the basket than spend over an hour hosing the large filters clean every few months.

If you have a pet that loves to swim I would suggest you get these! My border collie can't stay out of the pool, she loves the water. We researched on what to do to SAVE OUR POOL FILTER, this came up. We were having our pool cleaning company coming out about every 2 months to clean the filters of dog hair and dust and dirt. With these we haven't had them out in 4 months so far this summer. Living in AZ we have dust storms come through and ruin a filter with dust. These have worked for the dust storms too. We change the socks out biweekly, they do rip, but hey it's cheaper then 80 dollar filter clean out every 2 months. A package for us last about 3 month. Have bought them 2 and will buy again!

These filters do remove fine particles from the water. I primarily use them the day after we have people in the pool and they work well. I was amazed to see how much gets through the regular basket and sand filters. Be sure to only use them when your pool filter is running. They float to the top of the water without any suction to pull them down which could unseat your basket in some cases. Just keep an eye on them as your filter turns on and off the first day used to see if the baskets stay put. I dry mine in the sun, shake off the dust and wash with mild dish soap to clean.

We have serious problems with one cottonwood tree in the neighbor's yard. It spews cotton for weeks, then drops pods and buds for another several weeks. It creates a big mess in our yard and garden, but wreaks havoc on the pool! Our sand filter has had issues and we've spent hundreds of dollars in chemicals each year to resolve the cloudiness the cottonwood creates. I got these later in the season this year and they are perfect! The fabric is thin enough to let the water through freely, but catches all of the pods, buds and cotton. We bought two packs of five and these should certainly last through next year. They are thin and do tear after awhile, but that is to be expected given the heavy filtering they do. What a value these are considering the trouble the tree has caused us!

I bought this a few times. For what it is, it does capture crud just as the pic shows. The reason why I don't rate it higher is because it really is only good for a week or so, as the fabric disintegrates if used too long. By comparison, the Skim Mor brand works as well but has much more longevity. The last two I used lasted from Sept thru Thanksgiving.It is not easy to put on, as it needs to be stretched around the handle of the basket. It survives once a week or so cleaning of leaves, sometimes completely full if I'm lazy. It can be rinsed out using the mist selector on your hose nozzle at most one time or so if it hasn't fallen apart.I don't rate it lower because it is much less than the Skim Mor product. But in terms of cost effectiveness, I recommend trying the Skim Mor once for yourself to see the difference.

Love these, wish they lasted longer. Now I've learned that I mostly need to use them during storms and in the fall. The rest of the year when the pool is operational I don't bother so it's not as bad on the wallet. They work well, extends the life of the filter and I have less skimming to do. They fit nice and tight and have never accidentally come off. I'm guessing I get about 10-20 days use, depending on how much chlorine is in the pool. Somewhat pricey but they save me some time/work so you can decide if they are worth the time you save. They are for me.

I use one of these a week, sometimes more. When it's pollen season these are invaluable. They collect lots of pollen. During the height of pollen season they may only go a day or two before they are full. I just pull the thing out of the skimmer basket and throw it away. That's why I like these, they are much cheaper than the ones at the pool store. I don't reuse them, so I can't comment on how long they last. They last as long as I need them to. They are a bit on the small side, but they do fit.UPDATE: the last batch of these I ordered do not fit. I can't stretch them enough. But that's ok since the few that did fit tore when I tried to remove them.

I was going through one sock per week and it was getting ridiculous. I have a lot of pine needles and they end up tearing/ripping the fabric. I was resolved to the fact I'd be buying these by the truck full, but I found a creative alternative. Search Amazon for "Zicome Set of 5 Strong Washable Fine Mesh Reusable Produce Bags - Fit for Shopping and Storage". They aren't made for pool skimmers, but they work great, and I've been using the same bag for over 4 months with no tears or rips.
