LamyAL-Star Fountain Pen (26M) Graphite & 5 Black Ink Cartridges

I love this pen! I opted for the model with the aluminum barrel, and it is so light, I wasn’t sure if I got the right one.The ink flow is impeccable and the triangular grip makes for secure handling. If you are thinking the rubber pencil training grips from elementary school, push it from your mind- this feels natural.You will not be disappointed in this pen!

Actually, I liked everything about this -- quality products that are also professional looking, reasonable prices, well-designed pens, attention to detail, and clearly, an understanding of what people look for in fountain pens.

I have a collection of MontBlanc, Waterman and other high end fountain pens. I bought this one on a recommendation from a co-worker. At that price it’s nearly a disposable pen by comparison to the price point of some of my MontBlancs. The pen doesn’t leak, it writes phenomenally. The weight is good. I like the triangular shape where you place your fingers near the nib. Candidly if this was around before the ballpoint pen, the ballpoint may have never been invented it’s that good! I have medium points the fine point version may have a different writing experience. One thing to call out is the ink it ships will seems to not bleed into the pages as much as some of my Waterman or MontBlanc replacement cartridges. I’m pleased; overall it’s a great pen.

First the bad. I ordered a blue, AL-Star which has the aluminum body. While the package confirmed it contained such a pen, inside was a red plastic Safari. Clearly confusion in shipping or more likely, no one bothered to check what was in the box. One point against the seller. Now the good. The pen, which I believe shares the identical body shape and nib of the AL-star, lives up to its reputation. Rather than returning an inexpensive item over color, I decided to keep it. The barrel is excellent for my small to medium men's hands and my wife's smaller hands as well. The grip is beveled in such a fashion a to be very comfortable compared to a round grip. The stainless nib in medium point is silky across the page, feeds fast enough for my fast signature, but does not bleed. No skipping yet and glides well without scratchiness. I can't comment on weight since mine is plastic. The cap posts well enough. No click, but it sits tight. The clip looks good and holds fast in the pocket. The Lamy makes no effort to look like a traditionally or even classy pen. In fact it looks rather ordinary. Being German its functional Bauhaus style lives up to its Teutonic origin. To recap (pun intended), the LAMY, isn't much to look at but makes up for it in its function. It writes nearly as well as my Waterman Expert in medium nib. Despite the error the seller made, at this price point, the pen is well worth it and should bring a smile to your face and flourishes to your page.

Very fun to write short amounts with but it will HURT to write long amounts because of the hard plastic grip. VERY smooth writing and recommend a piston and ink bottle rather than cartridges.

This pen will not write. The ink goes down the barrel to the nib, but won't come out. I tried everything from cleaning the nib, removing it and spent hours troubleshooting online. I emailed Lamy asking for help. If it did write I think it would be a great pen. Its much lighter than I expected - light enough to write with the cap on top. The finger grip is contoured making it easy to write with a larger barrel pen. I wish this pen wrote!

Quality pen for a reasonable price. Previously purchased this model with the plastic casing. The aluminum casing really looks nice and feels great in hand. This pen gets lots of compliments!

Product arrived quickly and exactly as advertised. The colour is beautiful. I have been using these pens for a couple years now and am a big fan. Pricing is reasonable and on par/slightly better than I have found locally.
