A Must Read
This book is one of my favorite books I have ever read and I have read hundreds of books. The plot is full of unexpected events and it keeps you guessing to see what will happen next. Another book by JoJo Moyes that I truly love is One Plus One. Most of her books are so well written and gets to the heart of human dreams, shortcomings and triumphs. She is truly an amazing and creative author.

Compelling! Unbelievably good!
I found The Horse Dancer to be incredibly moving. I was somewhat familiar with The Cadre Noir de Saumur. Like many of my age, I read Mary Stewart's book, Airs Above the Ground, when I was young and have been interested in these horses ever since. It was fascinating to read about the intense effort and years of training that are required for this elegant and graceful art. Throughout the book I pulled up videos of the horses and their magical movements. It really is astonishing and beautiful. Thank you, Ms. Moyes for another excellent read. When I pick up one of your books, I know that I'm in for a treat.

A mixed read
I read all Jojo Moyes novels. Wouldn’t miss one. This book, In short I liked it. It had a very satisfying ending. In long, it took me ages to read it because every time I began I’d put it down after just 5 minutes and read another book in between then and picking it up again. I found it hard to start. I think this was because the first part of the book had such obvious overtones of impending disaster that I didn’t want to go there. In the end (and 6 intermediary books later) I decided to skim read it. I was half way through before I began to really read it properly and engage with the characters. But after that I was hooked. I’m glad I persevered because I liked it and was introduced to a whole new culture of Le cadré noir and Xenophon!

If you love horses...
This story tells of the bond between a young girl and her remarkable horse. It weaves into the way a family is made out of pieces that don't always fit together perfectly.

Nothing wrong with a "feel good"
The characters were carefully developed so that they were very real. In the world in which we are living the quagmire wants to suck us in. A good story reminds us that good is out there.

Well researched book
This is the first book by JoJo Moyes that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is many-layered and each layer is peeled back in just the right places. A young girl's love for her horse and how the adults in her life react to her and each other keep the pages turning. Moyes' descriptions of the riders of the classic Le Cadre Noir are exact and create exciting images. Well worth the read.

Joy Moyes has captured me! This is the third of her books that I have read, and I must say she is really good at capturing characters, and making reading a pleasure.. Towards the end of the book I just couldn't put it down until I had finished it! Have your tissues at hand! Excellent author! Good reading!
