Well made
This carder set is really nice. The brushes are well made, the wood is smooth, and the wire bristles do what is expected of them. Much easier than trying to prep wool roving with my fingers.

Bought to card cotton
I bought these to card cotton and they're better than what I used before. The handle on one was wobbly when I got it, but I've used them regularly for about a month now and it hasn't gotten worse. If anything changes I'll update my review.

I would buy them again
Pro's: - *Not* a pet brush- they look legitimate! (I bought other cheaper sets and they were just expensive pet brushes) - Feels like good quality - LOVE the sturdy canvas pull-string bag Con's: - there is space between the rubber that holds the tines and the wooden back, so when carding the tines give a little. On "real" carders the rubber that holds the tines is stapled to the wood. It just makes it a little more difficult to use. They are fine carding wool, but I only carded wool with a pair of these for just a few minutes. (Just FYI) They aren't as easy to use for carding cotton.... USE: I do carding/spinning demonstrations for colonialfests and schools. They work great to allow children to get a feel for carding.

Great quality for a low price
I was looking for an alternative to the expensive Ashford carders I have used for years. I use combing wool as an activity in my farm education programs, so my carders get a lot of kid use and I needed some replacements. These are absolutely perfect for what I needed. I also ordered an even cheaper (and smaller) type of carders on Amazon so I could compare, and the Woolbuddy blows those cheaper ones away. Definitely worth the extra $10 for the Woolbuddy ones. They are perfect for smaller hands, but I enjoyed using them as well. I can also see these as being great for felters who want to blend small amounts of color.

Wow these will teach you well love them
Wool beware ... After realizing that it works way better when the wool is shaved I found these to be pure wool magic , but let me share with you the day they arrived my husband decided he'd comb out the rams wool to make him look more majestic.. as he approached the ram who I might ad has become a friend of his he reached out with both brushes and and dug into the wool . The ram looked up as to say brush away my friend . So he won't in again this time both brushes deep in the wool and the fun began . As I watched him try to hold the brushes as he frantically ride the ram around our yard trying to to not hurt the prized brushes I bought .. if you want good memories buy these and ask your husband to comb out the biggest sheep or ram prior to shaving great memories

Dog brushes are not wool cards!!!
~~~Edit ~~~ if I advertises it can double as a dog brush then they are not wool carders. I bought these for fear that real ones would injure my wrists. But it turns out Ashford's student size ones made from lightweight wood are fine for me. And the fiber quality from the real deal is worth every penny. There's a night and day difference in my yarn quality from the different cards. These cards actually damaged the fibers, preventing a smooth draft and always ends up thick and prickly. I'll see if the cats like it as a brush, but I'm going to turn the rest of the fleece that passed through these tines into stuffing, it isn't worth the time to spin and even less time to knit. ---original review ~~ Probably better advertised as dog brushes that are capable of carding than wool carders. But it works for me. I've got stupid weak wrists and I'd never last 5 minutes with proper carders with, stiff, rigid wires. The thinner wires on the air cushion gives enough flex to absorb a lot of the stresses involved in straightening the fibers. They would work better with a shorter breed of wool or cotton than my Eastern Freesian, but as long as I don't overload the cards it still manages to get the job done and create spinnable rolags. The thin wires do have potential for getting bent, due to the thin nature, so I make sure I'm careful with them. So far I haven't bent any, but it they do end up too bent the price point is so reasonable I would consider buying again. Kinda wish the wires were a little less densely spaced, might make it easier to knock out the hay bits that gets stuck in the tines.
