The media could not be loaded.  I was pleased to try this 'EMtronics EMPM21 Electric Popcorn Maker Machine, Hot Air Pop Corn Popper for Movie Nights, Parties, Sleepovers, 1200 W, Red'. I have never used a hot air popcorn machine before but I can see the benefit over my usual oil in a large saucepan way - no added fat or the oil smell pervading the house.1. You get the machine safely inside a cardboard presentation box, with an instruction booklet.2. The actual machine is much lighter in weight than I had supposed at only 707 grams. It is a very nice red and black colour and matches the red accents in my kitchen. It is a neat size at 33.5cm tall.3. You have to wash the parts before first use and then the clear hard plastic dome sits on the top and the scoop, after you have used it to pour the 70 grams of the kernels into the machine, sits in two grooves on top of that.4. You plug in the three pin plug and turn the switch to 'On'. The interior metal container revolves agitating the corn and you get a noise that sounds a bit like a hair dryer, from the hot air being produced - within a short time the kernels start popping. Soon they really get going and pour out of the spout into you large bowl to catch them. A few got carried away and bounced out of the bowl but most ended up inside. Every kernel, bar one, popped. The consistency of the popcorn was really good - lovely, puffy and large.5. I am diabetic, so used some sugar substitute icing sugar and cinnamon to flavour the bowl full - a very tasty treat. In the booklet it says that if you wanted buttered popcorn that you can put some inside the upside down scoop and it will melt, from the heat, over the corn as it is popping. The inside metal container also apparently has a non-stick coating, so should be easy to clean afterwards.6. The machine base does not get hot but the clear dome does, while it is in use. It does not take long to cool down again though.7. I am very happy to have this new kitchen gadget and it will be great to be able to have a quick guilt free treat.8. The current price of £22.99 is fine, in my opinion, for a neat popcorn maker that works well.

Great popcorn maker, makes a surprisingly large amount for its size!! and the design is good, pocorn pops up and out into a waiting bowl (not supplied)Looks and sounds cool....

I have only used this once. It was reasonably priced. I wasn't expecting it to be so noisy. The popcorn is made quite quickly but I didn't like the popcorn it produced. For me it tasted too much like polystyrene .

Worked quickly but had lots of unpopped kernels left behind. Didn’t quite melt butter. Seems more like design issues vs manufacturing.

The media could not be loaded.  I recently learnt how easy it was to make popcorn in a pan however during do so how easy it was to overcook it. Therefore I could not wait to see how this machine may differ.The machine itself is a decent size. It comes with a solid guard/lid to prevent popcorn flying everywhere as it pops. The lid has a reverse spout out the front guiding the popped corn into the bowl you sit under it. The top of this lid has a removable measuring spoon which also doubles as a butter melting dish.The machine turns on at the flick of a switch. To use it, you simply have to place your unpopped kernels inside the centrifuge in the middle of the machine and turn it on. The machine then does the rest. Once your centrifuge is empty you simply turn the machine off and enjoy what you have made.The results are great. The corn is perfectly popped and less damp than when made I a pan. However the negative for the comparison is that the machine does throw out around a third of the kernels unpopped. This is a little frustrating as you need to then separate these from your pop corn and throw them back in to pop. Not an easy thing to do when they are so hot!It also goes a little crazy and throws a few of the popped corns in odd direction and not all of them made it in to bowl to the delight of my dogs who had fun running round the kitchen eating the bits it threw on the floor, but not so delightful for me. However the majority did make it into the bowl.Overall I am really pleased with the product and recommend it. It does have the downside as highlighted above but that being said it does produce a great quality popcorn. It is so simple and fast to use, also being really easy to clean. Therefore if you love popcorn then this is the product for you.
