Upon receiving the reel, I already knew to flip the one-way bearing, reverse the backing and line. I retied all knots with a nail- knot tool. I have several of these reels, bought multiples of same wt reels, so I can swap spools with full sink or float lines. Whatever inconvenience is worth it to me, for convenience of swapping spools for floating or sinking lines. I have more expensive reels that came with two spools for sinking or floating line. The price of two reels with backing, line and leader are less expensive, I like to customize my gear for my particular needs and am very pleased with these purchases. I nailknot my sinking lines to the leader and put loops on floating lines. Great for light line fly fishing, 3/4 wt fly setups.

First off, it’s right hand retrieve setup. Why? I wasn’t expecting that and didn’t have anything to unwind to to make the change so I fished the day with the wrong setup. Next thing I noticed is the knot for the line to the leader. I knew it wasn’t a loop and I’d cut it if it was anyway but it only had three turns and very large tag ends that really needed trimming. So I had to cut and tie a better knot.As for being a reel, it’s pretty and holds line. The tensioner works. There’s not much else to a reel so works for me and I’m so far quite happy with it after a day of bass fishing on the lake.Line and leader seem fine for me. I fish for bass and didn’t get any big bites so it held and cast well. No complaints but I don’t have experience with the “good stuff” to compare.The problems weren’t a big deal but you need to know what you’re doing and it’s advertised as already setup which it isn’t and that’s the only reason I docked a star. If the package said it wasn’t setup and everything was in packages I’d easily rate it 5 stars.

This is a very good fly reel! It works very well, and is constructed of very good materials. Lightweight but very strong. The drag.system works well.

This is agreat little reel for the small rod

FUNCTION: Spool/reel made contact with arbor during rotation, causing a disappointing *scratch*scratch*scratch*scratch*scratch whenever the reel was turned. I had to bend the body of the reel to keep it from making contact. After fiddling with that (bending the body to fit) for 15 minutes it rotates freely now. Floating line is relatively thick compared to what I was using but it pays out well during casting. Nail knot attaching leader to floating line has excessive "tail" that catches on rod eyelets, so it needs trimming.FINISH: Reel looks attractive out of the box, but the finish is extremely fragile. Laid rod and reel on my driveway while unpacking and discovered that had scratched the surface. Gray matte appearance is (or was until I laid it down) even and uniform.DRAG: Acceptable drag adjustment considering price point. Adjusts from locked-up to free rotation using a thumb screw with detents.SIZE: Nice arbor size for quick recovery.All in all - I got what I paid for. A super cheap reel, with a cheap finish, with passable build quality.

The reel's drag is backwards along with the handle. With that being the main issue, the other issue is the backing itself. Its poor quality rope.

As advertised; arrived on time

I purchased this back in 2019. Used it often since purchasing. This last Thursday tho I used it and the drag dial became extremely rough.I’m not sure if it’s gravel dust getting in or other dirt.Other than the drag it was a really good reel for price.

Converted it to left hand wind and it's remarkable for the price. Matches nicely with my 3 weigh twig. Looking forward to hassling some small stream Brown's & Rainbow's in Tasmania's fastwater southern strems next month.

Put the full length of Dacron 20lb backing on but ha to take most of it off again in order to accommodate the fly line. Reel itself operates ok but beware need to apply slight drag to strip line out. If it runs too freely the line tangles on the spool.

came in really well
